Important to get on encl team before next Spring. If fall GAL is subpar you need to move fast. Really risking it at GAL club. Too many variables that your DOC can’t control that can only lead to harming your daughters path.
My kid's team had 20 last year (2019-20). For 2020-21, Lost 1 player to another sport, 3 moved to ECRL, picked up 6 from GDA teams. Total on roster 22...little more than we would like, but my kid's team was down 5 players at one point last year thanks to freakin' HS ball-so better safe than sorry I guess.

OK, watch and see ..... either a bait and switch or stuck on a large roster. Either way its going to be a mess for about 1/3 of the players in ECNL this year!

Not positive how many from last year are coming back, but I think 20 in total.

Please tell me you guys are joking with these roster sizes. If not, are players playing 40-50% of the games? How are minutes distributed?

18 dress for game, at the beginning of season for last 2 years, coach laid out schedule of what players wouldn't be rostered for what games, but it never came to fruition because of injured players. All players healthy enough to play were rostered for every game & event.
As far as PT, it definitely wasn't 50/50, but nobody played less than 30 minutes.

That is a risk certainly. My daughter has decided to take the risk and no one knows the future so all she can do is work hard, do her best and see where she lands in terms of PT. If it is successful, great. if not, she knows she gave it a go and didn't shy away. Whether soccer takes her to college or not, who knows but perhaps there's a life lesson in aiming high, anyway.

                  Not dressing for some games?

Do you pay the same tuition?

Great point on motivation and life lessons. Best of luck to your daughter.

What usually happens in this situation is that 4 are left off the roster each week. The top 11 players are usually never left off the roster except in some token situations to show a warped sense of even handiness. The parents either put up with it or they don't. At PDA most do, only the most educated and confident of parents look for a better situation for their kids. The kids and the parents that stay believe that it is better to play thirty minutes and be left off of rosters than to play on the white team or leave altogether. They believe the mythology that you have a better chance of being recruited as a part time blue player than a full time player on white team or if leave and go to Matchfit or other high level tournament team. That is the beauty behind the PDA brand.

That risk of an ECNL team is well worth the chance as compared to overrated and lowly ECRL or even GAL. You don’t want to get stuck playing in those....

GAL STA or Matchfit ECNL -that is the question?

Right, makes total sense for parents to be sold on the "proven pathway" and then be considered player #26 on the roster. Only a fool buys into that, and does so because it's more important for the parents to say "my kid is on a team that is in the best league" vs. "my kid plays".

The problem is every club makes crazy promises and tells you that you're wanted and going to be taken care of but until the games start you have no idea where you actually stand. There is no crystal ball. You take a chance and see what is happening and if it is good, great and if not, you fight it out or move on. There's no transparency anywhere.
