That means nothing. There are close games between all levels of soccer. That was a shellacking of an ECNL national champion by an above average EDP team. These leagues are no doubt getting watered down.

Was at EDP Cup in Oct. 2-0 loss by PDA. Of course you would hear the mantra of the academy coaches of...."Wins don't matter" after getting skunked by a NL team. While it truly doesn't it's still embarrassing to be beaten by a bunch of townies.

I love the various justifications for the Clarkstown debacle. How bad are the lower quality ECNL teams in this age bracket if their best lost to an above-average EDP squad. That’s the scary part.

Great post. There’s no doubt the leagues are watered down and the introduction of GDA was the cause.

You are missing a lot of great non ECNL and GDA teams, and I agree Youthsoccerrankings is much more accurate than gotsoccer so use that as your guide. Plenty of EDP/NL teams ranked higher than a lot of the so called “superior” teams you mention. Looking through the 06 and 05 list is pretty obvious to see, check it out. If you have a Non DA or ECNL team in top 200 nationally at U14, U15 and higher that means they are pretty damn good considering this includes all of ECNL and GDA.

It is watered down. The system will always be watered down. Each gda or ecnl club has one or maybe two carrots to give out unless they are some super connected club in California. The players strong enough to contend for those carrots spread out to different clubs to get them. the rest of the talent plays where it suits them best.
