That means nothing. There are close games between all levels of soccer. That was a shellacking of an ECNL national champion by an above average EDP team. These leagues are no doubt getting watered down.

Easy wise guy my daughter is on that team. Your ignorance would be misplaced, as there are an impressive list of college admits on that team.

It’s true Clarkstown is the only exception (I hope)...

GotSoccer is meaningless. Their point system promotes sandbagging and the more you play in leagues/tournaments that use it the higher your rankings will be. Most people quote off of https://youthsoccerrankings.us/ranki...onal/All/Both/

Was at EDP Cup in Oct. 2-0 loss by PDA. Of course you would hear the mantra of the academy coaches of...."Wins don't matter" after getting skunked by a NL team. While it truly doesn't it's still embarrassing to be beaten by a bunch of townies.

You can look into the playing history of just about any of the mid/bottom DA and ECNL teams and see losses and near wins to various NL/EDP teams.

Clarkstown is always good at the younger ages, literally always. These kids are 13? By 15, most of them will have moved on to WCFC or some GDA team.

I love the various justifications for the Clarkstown debacle. How bad are the lower quality ECNL teams in this age bracket if their best lost to an above-average EDP squad. That’s the scary part.

Great post. There’s no doubt the leagues are watered down and the introduction of GDA was the cause.

There were strong teams here and there is other leagues before GDA and there will continue to be. Too bad it is not more common but it is certainly possible.

It's not justification, it's merely fact. These kids are literally 13 years old! If they are still together and dominant in the next few years, absolute kudos to them. But history shows, Clarkstown teams are always strong in the younger age groups and then head off to ECNL/GDA in the HS years. The scary part is that you're gauging leagues based on 1 team 13 year old girls.

Yes but GDA was just introduced. Just logically it’s more watered down now than it was then.

Bottom line, my kid wants to play for a strong D1 college program. Until those rosters are dominated by USYS NL players, she'll stick with ECNL. Thanks!

You are missing a lot of great non ECNL and GDA teams, and I agree Youthsoccerrankings is much more accurate than gotsoccer so use that as your guide. Plenty of EDP/NL teams ranked higher than a lot of the so called “superior” teams you mention. Looking through the 06 and 05 list is pretty obvious to see, check it out. If you have a Non DA or ECNL team in top 200 nationally at U14, U15 and higher that means they are pretty damn good considering this includes all of ECNL and GDA.

It is watered down. The system will always be watered down. Each gda or ecnl club has one or maybe two carrots to give out unless they are some super connected club in California. The players strong enough to contend for those carrots spread out to different clubs to get them. the rest of the talent plays where it suits them best.

Agree and the talent in ECNL has been halved only recently by the intro of GDA
