Just checked the rankings and MFA Essex/ ironbound has one team in the top 30 in the state. They have 3 teams total in all age groups based on the soccer rankings app. This is clearly a MFA narrative to try to drive up interest in their latest acquisition trying to take market share in that region. My guess is that’s what this ECNL pathway nonsense is all about because those ive talked to who know the team well said there wasn’t much talent on the 2011 team to be real. Another dishonest business deal in the making. It’s all about the money at MFA. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is anything more than a $ move.

MFA Essex 2011 is about 90% the same players as the former Ironbound Explosion 2011 team. Very few new players. Since the girls have joined MatchFit, some of them got noticed by the ECNL coaches during MFA Select/Best of the Best tryouts and have been playing up with ECNL for some games. So yes, there is a pathway.

Problem is the cogs are human beings and they have brains. Once they figure out the scheme they no longer trust in the business model. There has to be a semblance of honestly when dealing with the development of peoples children or it all falls apart. This is where MFA misses the mark consistently and eventually the model fails. You will see quality players leaving on principles when they feel their children are being treated unfairly There has to be a better way where all stakeholders benefit and all interests are served not just the clubs financial statements.

Exactly. Ironbound was a failing club on the girls side and they probably got a great valuation when purchasing. Same deal with the central location. It doesn’t change the fact that the player pool was not great and shouldn’t be markets as something it’s not. That would be called lies and false advertisement.

If they put a couple bodies on an ECNL team for a stint than it’s not technically false. Whether they should be there is another matter entirely. The club will always serve themselves before their players which is unfortunate given the tax exempt status they’ve been granted and the values they claim to uphold.

lied about who we were getting coached by.. never happened.
lied about who would train the team …never happened.
lied about the number of girls that would be on the roster… totally false.
Lied about playing in certain tournaments.. never happened.

You’d think with all that Essex talent that’s being talked about on TS they would have been a little higher ranked across age groups. The level of play currently at essex/ironbound looks like mid to low tier edp folks. You be the judge based on the analytics from the ranking app.
