She mentioned the abuse starts with favoritism at these clubs. MFA and pda all play favoritism. It’s so sad but none of these clubs care about you if you are not a top player. I saw it with my Ds old team and see it again with her new team. Both big name clubs. Makes me want to go back to town travel in all honesty. But don’t want to make the wrong decision. I can’t stand these clubs yet I still put my daughter there. No one is developing at pda with two practices a week. Nor will you develop at MFA with only scrimmages. Development comes from outside training. So really you can play anywhere and still develop with outside training. As mentioned in the podcast…when your kid is old enough to say they want to showcase their skills …that’s when you go to the big name academies because that’s where you will showcase yourself.

Her comments are spot on with our experience. Now that we are in it, I don’t see any upside of being at one of these clubs at the pre showcase ages. The biggest argument for was practicing with high level players but you should be able to find that in a training group. An excellent trainer will do far more for development than your club coach.

Join a higher level boys team. Your D will play quicker and tougher. There are creative ways around this. If you have relatives abroad many great programs and coaches that don’t want a penny. They actually refuse to take money.

The podcast is 2 years old. Nothing changed. Move on. The system is here to stay with helicopter parents.

MFA is full of lies. I’ve seen it and heard about it at Morris and shore location. They tell the parents what they want to hear, when in reality, none is true. The only ones who stay are the idiots who don’t know any better, or haven’t experienced lieing yet, or who can’t make a better team.
