Is it the new NCAA rule to limit the roster to 28 players so all kids on the team have a full ride all 4 years (excluding Ivy's)?

I won't vouch for every player on what they get. I will only state our facts.

An athletic grant-in-aid award is NOT financial aid. If she were to quit playing, she would not get aid. It's stipulated here:

In order to be eligible for this athletic grant-in-aid offer, you must meet and maintain the eligibility requirements established by the NCAA, the XXX Conference, and XXX University

You folks on TS need to stop spouting false information. Just state "wow, surprised, I learned something today" and move along. NJ TS is by far the most clueless, and argumentative, of the state's threads on here. Bar none.
You’re talking about a federal grant , there are many factors involved in this including family income that’s why you had to provide this . Again the school isn’t giving a straight 150k soccer scholarship, the Feds are heavily involved financially in universities obviously, your child plays a sport must be decent although you said she wasn’t that good and the reduction in tuition in terms of money wasn’t all soccer it’s from government, why can’t u just say that bc that’s the truth , average women’s soccer scholarship is around 10k I believe and that’s for top players . You did receive financial aid but won’t admit , just let it go and stop wt the quotes that can include anything you want .

        two points:
        1) I will take a guess that those who post about "this is a waste of money" types of posts, can't afford it. It's a reality of life and all of us are richer than some and poorer than some other people. For example, my kids have friends who in addition to spending notable amount on sports also go on 8-10k school trips to Europe, Australia, etc. They are in a large county public school where some parents are wealthy. So to those who post about "I don't understand why spend so much", I say - do not count other people's money. Those people can afford it and not really notice it, so don't worry about them :D Concentrate on being comfortable where you are, make the most of it, and keep fighting for more.

        2) Stop being a simpleton and compare (youth) sports in the USA to other countries. We are different in size, history, culture, economics, social life, education system K - college, and so on. Can we learn and adapt some concepts? Sure. But to model things exactly after someone else will never work.

So pathetic but hillarious at the same time , do you still talk club wt the other 5 parents at the games , lol !!!!!!
What is a "bumper sticker wacko"? My kid is a good-not-great soccer player who was able to get recruited to her first choice school in-part because of the choices our family made to keep her in a competitive club environment that happened to be 15 minutes from our house. What would have been "wacko" is to join a less competitive club further from our home, no? Better to travel a handful of weekends to away games than to add an hour of commuting 3x per week, right?

And yes, we have remained friends with other parents from the club team. Is making/staying friends a bad thing?

If playing college soccer is your fantasies then OK but the kids would have great time doing other things who knows maybe some kids would have been incredible in other sports but no one would know bc parents made quit everything at 10 and play soccer nonstop . I played collegiately and my kids very well may play too but life is about more than for profit youth soccer . But sadly parents are obsessed bc deep inside even though they’ll never admit it they think their kids can go big time and they can’t and that’s where the clubs power comes in , parental delusions and they’ll feed it all day n nite
I can only imagine this describes a very small proportion of parents and kids.

I also paid thousands more for my family to go skiing, and didn't get a skiing scholarships either. What's your point?

You should have gone to cheaper places to ski. Plenty of them within driving distance of NJ (and even in NJ). Ridiculous to pay so much to go so far.

Not the OP but over 4 years for a college with a total cost of just over $300k a 1/3rd sports scholarship would be a total of $100k and a 40% would be $120k so $150k over 4 years isn't out of the realm of possibilities.

College is overpriced for a reason a lot of reductions involving many factors , at the end of it all colleges will get their money , if they charge 350k for 4 years and kids get half off they are still paying 175k which is a joke , that’s the bottom line , forget these back and forths people are having on here . But good discussion to have

The numbers do match. That is one year of four, $53k for that one year and will be about the average. Multiply that times four, and you have 2/3 savings off the bill.

My point is, the OP shouldn't make statements, nor should you, that players cannot get scholarships and that you will spend "tens of thousands more" in club fees.

I have no idea how average that package is. I know she was offered more elsewhere, and was offered less elsewhere. I know some got more, and some got less. I know for some schools, she would've been able to add academic dollars on top.

I make no claims other than:

*What we paid to play club soccer
*What the school is paying for her education through Athletic Grant in Aid
*That people who don't know about what they are talking about, shouldn't be so firm in their incorrect assumptions when speaking on other's behalf
*I am quite sure monies are made available to get a player if a school wants them.

My theory is through pre-reads the school determines someone can pay XXX amount, and they then use their various sources of aid to get to that number. In some cases, not mine, the athletic team will then find a way to increase that number to make it satisfactory. We didn't negotiate, we got the offers and considered them along with the rest of the reasons why someone should pick a school.
