If parents have kids in any so called major league from 7th grade on to 12 wt club costs , hotels , gas , travel/airfare and countless hours it won’t even come close to get covered by college . Just let kids have fun and forget fragile parent egos who slap bumper Stickers on cars and pretend they’re kids “elite” . Invest in accounts for their future and education not giving to middle aged guys who are playing you all for suckers , bc trust me they are and they laugh about it .

I calculated we spent, over the course of 5 years of heavy club activity to be about $30-40k when it was all said in done (travel, hotels, club fees, etc.). Of course that number is a bit deflated since we used to use travel instances as family vacations (hey, I love the game), so just moved from one budget to another. I don't count the countless hours in the car as a negative, for me it was a HUGE positive to spend a lot of time with her.
My kid's sticker price for college over 4 years will be over $300k. Now, I fully realize rare is the person who pays full freight so yes, there would likely be some other aid made available through academics, FA, etc. That being said, with her scholarship we will end up paying about $107k.
So:
107,000
+40,000
147,000 +/-
300,000
-147,000
153,000 Savings
And, my kid isn't even that good compared to many others. And, I have no idea how common or uncommon those numbers are for all, only speaking for myself.
To add, she had fun. I don't have a bumper sticker on my car.

"The problem with Americans and why you'll never be a world power is you have too many distractions. You spend too much time not playing soccer, and expect to be just as good as those who do."

50% the first year
60% the second year
60% for the third year
70% for the fourth year
Turned down an offer that was:

100%
100%
(didn't really like the school that much)
Turned down an offer that was:
75% for all four years (slight regrets on this one, but academically she had her reasons)
Could really give a rats azz if you don't want to believe the facts presented. And, again, I won't vouch for all. I do know, however that there are ways for schools to find money outside the 14 equivalency scholarships currently available.

Each position has their merits, truthfully.

So, it's completely clear you are full of it. There are equivalent of 14 scholarships available, to be split however a school wants. No, not all schools use it all, but those who look to be competitive absolutely do.
