you are an idiot. This IS THE WAY that other tournaments do it and the guy was saying he liked it better in comparison. Learn to read

I hate the stupid 10 point system with a shut-out getting you the extra point and a max goal diff or max goals for of 3 per game. A team that wins 3-0, 3-0, and 3-0 is not better than a team that wins 5-0, 5-0, and 5-1. Now that my kids play ECNL, it's much better because I don't have to worry about stupid EDP scoring and rules. All games, showcases, and playoffs scored the same: points first, then head-to-head if applicable, then goal diff, goals for, and goals against.

That's great for ECNL where presumably the games will be closer - The capped GF is to prevent 10+ - 0 games. Of course the cherry picked example sucks, but you really don't want U littles trying to run up the score for tie breaking purposes.

As parents, the best thing you can do is NOT say “if you do ABC, XYZ will happen”. Just say we need to see all the results posted to see who advances.

Sorry that happened. Hope the kids had fun anyway!
Thank you for this answer and for some wisdom for the future. They were proud of themselves and had fun and that’s what matters for us.

I have always though 5 was a better number than 3, but agree about Ulittle running up scores. Maybe U8-10 is 3 max, U11-13 5 max and U14 and above is unlimited.

a team that wins 3-0, 3-0 and 3-0 is absolutely better than a team that wins 5-0, 5-0 and 5-1. 3 shutouts trumps giving up a goal any day of the week.

I disagree. Lots of teams sub a lot more or move positions more if up 5-0 and give up a silly goal. Less likely in 3-0 game

I like that, I vote for this (and I know my vote doesn't count, but I vote anyway).

Woke up next day and played our third game a full hour before the team that also ended the game with a win and a tie. We win that game. We go watch the other game hoping that the tied team keeps their win below our goal differential. We end up tied on GD as well. So then it moves to goals for. We have 10 to their 9. However EDP has a rule that goals for is limited to 4 per game. So our goals for is recorded as 8 putting us down one to their 9 and putting us in a third place game despite scoring more goals.

Insult to injury we beat the team in that game by 4 goals and the team that took the championship tied that team 1-1.

Proud of the soccer the girls played but it was very difficult to explain this to them.

What is the logic in this rule? Further if this is the rule all games should definitely be played simultaneously.

You are talking about u-little soccer like it matters. They have a tie breaker system that has been that way forever. It sucks sometimes as sometimes it works for you and sometimes against. It is what it is, just enjoy your kids playing and as long as they are having fun who cares. It isn't going to effect whatever college she may go to so why stress over it.

You’re just mad that your daughter sucks. Either that or you’re broke! So which one is it?

This would be a good compromise for me and makes more sense.

That's ridiculous, especially in a sport where random crap happens from time to time. A defender clearing out a ball and it hits a defenders arm that is away from their body and you get a PK for that regardless of whether their was an offensive player anywhere close. If you haven't seen a fluke goal given up by a much stronger team, you haven't watched very much soccer.

IMO goals against is more important than goals for but whatever. You just have to look at it like when you play a low level team, you 6 goals, or maybe 10 goals can’t all count. It’s not a show of skill by beating a low level team. That’s why they won’t give you more than 4 to use. 5-0 4-0 is better than /
10-1 2-1 because it’s assumed that first team sucks anyway.
