I hate the stupid 10 point system with a shut-out getting you the extra point and a max goal diff or max goals for of 3 per game. A team that wins 3-0, 3-0, and 3-0 is not better than a team that wins 5-0, 5-0, and 5-1. Now that my kids play ECNL, it's much better because I don't have to worry about stupid EDP scoring and rules. All games, showcases, and playoffs scored the same: points first, then head-to-head if applicable, then goal diff, goals for, and goals against.

As parents, the best thing you can do is NOT say “if you do ABC, XYZ will happen”. Just say we need to see all the results posted to see who advances.
Sorry that happened. Hope the kids had fun anyway!

We go watch the other game hoping that the tied team keeps their win below our goal differential. We end up tied on GD as well. So then it moves to goals for. We have 10 to their 9. However EDP has a rule that goals for is limited to 4 per game. So our goals for is recorded as 8 putting us down one to their 9 and putting us in a third place game despite scoring more goals.
Insult to injury we beat the team in that game by 4 goals and the team that took the championship tied that team 1-1.
Proud of the soccer the girls played but it was very difficult to explain this to them.
What is the logic in this rule? Further if this is the rule all games should definitely be played simultaneously.

IMO goals against is more important than goals for but whatever. You just have to look at it like when you play a low level team, you 6 goals, or maybe 10 goals can’t all count. It’s not a show of skill by beating a low level team. That’s why they won’t give you more than 4 to use. 5-0 4-0 is better than /
10-1 2-1 because it’s assumed that first team sucks anyway.
