But how does moving to the same conference as WC impact the flow of poaching players? Is MFA moving its facilities/locations closer to WC?

Btw - my D was at WC ECRL (she is now in college). It's true that players left the WC ECRL team to join MFA ECNL...but only because WC wouldn't consider them for the ECNL team.

Because people playing for WC now might not want to do the driving for the North Atlantic conference (3 teams in Maryland for example), but if MFA moved to the New England conference, it would mean the only additional travel would be to MFA, not every league game.

Honestly, this doesn't sound like a compelling case at all for someone to leave WC for MFA...

That's not supposed to be the compelling case for it. It's just an answer to the question of how moving to the same conference as WC might impact the flow of poaching players. All else being equal (not saying it is), the travel for the New England conference would likely be much better for someone contemplating a switch to MFA from WC than having to travel the North Atlantic conference. So if someone was already on the fence, it may provide the push. I would think the strength of Match Fit's teams at some age levels relative to World Class would be a stronger driver than the travel concerns.

The only reason why I could see someone wanting to move from WC to MFA is if they weren’t getting playing time at WC or if they were on EL team and were offered a NL spot at MFA.

the travel differences between New England conference and North Atlantic conference are minimal as Maryland is not so different tan Massachusetts in terms of distance.
