When would you expect to start practicing with your new team?

My daughter accepted a spot on a new team (U15 next year). In general (I am going to speak to her coach, just want to see what happens in general) when do the new girls start practicing with their new team (even if only 1 day a week). Is it weird if there are girls still there that were cut (they have every right to finish out the year)? What happens with your club? I know officially is all seems to happen August 1st, but the sooner the better, right?

In our experience the new club ask you to come to trainings when you can and you finish your season with your old club unless your old club has a temper tantrum and decides to stop playing your kid and bench them. But the new club will have kids who will be cut finishing out their season unless the parent or kids feel like they don’t want to finish out the season. Depending on the league you can even be rostered and play for the new club depends on situation but we have played in end of season tournaments with our new club

^ this. Finish what you started, which is a commitment to THIS years team. I think practicing isn't even allowed in some leagues until the season is over. If a coach takes leaving out on your kid then you confirmed leaving is the right choice.

No one said not to, but you can PRACTICE with the new team and still keep your commitment to the old

There's literally only a few weeks left. What's the benefit of starting elsewhere now with summer break coming? You might not be able to practice with the new team yet. What's the harm in staying? If it's a situation where there's psychological impact ok yes, leave now. But that's rare. Most times it just didn't work out, need a better fit etc. Teach your kid about making a commitment. Chances are they want to finish with their friends anyway.

If allowed. If think ECNL and MLS don't allow it

You people are nuts no where did the original poster state leaving the old team to start with the new team just about training with them and there’s nothing with doing that as long as it doesn’t take away from your current team. Original poster never stated leaving their team early. And if you never transitioned from one team to another it’s an honest question of that typically looks like

Yup, and as for “only a couple of weeks”, there are like 12 until the official august 1st start date. I always let the new kids come to 1 practice a week, and long as there are no hard feelings worth the ones leaving. Never too early to start working on the chemistry

Every day you spend with the team you’re breaking up with is one less day you’re growing with your new team.

U15 will be high school age girls, and most clubs do not have practice until winter due to most players will do soccer in their schools, isn't it? So it does not help much consider such a long time without practice anyway

What clubs won’t have practice until winter? The clubs I’m familiar with will all have summer practices before the fall break for HS soccer.
