Just about every prep school as far as I know is the same. How do those "right to dream" kids afford school? and then college? So there are kids getting need in the form of grants and whatever that are paying less per year than your D1 player on partial scholarship. So yeah, your a full pay kid throwing more $ in the form of "donations" at the school, you think that coach is not going to give that kid time? Go bury your head in the sand some more.....

Merit is based on multiple squishy criteria that varies school to school. While some D3s won't give athletes extra merit money just because they're athletes, plenty do. If a school wants someone, they find the money. Between FA and merit often D3 athletes pay less than at many D1s.
Unless your income changes a lot your FA should stay constant. Merit sticks all 4 years as long as you keep up your grades. Outside the P5 conference D1 athletic money is renewed each year. It is for moat athletes doing well buy is not guaranteed. And if your player quits that money evaporates.
