16 is great if everyone is committed. We have 14 committed and 2 not. No idea why they even pay to join. Maybe there 50% of the of time. Stinks when someone else has to miss (family wedding, sick, hurt) and even worse when it happens to 2. 1 Sub is not good when playing against a team of 18

The problem is at this age group injuries are high. If you go with 16 and 3 players get injured (which I would say is the average) you are then down to only 2 subs for game in a short season where teams and players are often playing Saturday and Sunday and maybe midweek. Large rosters are a necessity to help recovery just some teams still play the same players every minute of every game and then wonder why those kids get hurt

we have never had 3 hurt at the same time, but we also have a B and C team so we can pull up and down as needed for single games

But 22? You literally have to tell kids they cant dress for games. How is that OK?

yea, hopefully the ones that really wanted to play were smart enough to hurt enough others at practice so they can have a spot

Exactly most teams player the same players over and over then they wonder why some get hurt or have knee trouble

What if 2 are injured and 2 have college visits? Because that happens plenty. Coaches also will rest some players Saturday and play them Sunday. Any coach who wants to keep their job makes sure everyone gets half a game each at showcases (where there is no maximum). I agree it's not preferred but it generally works out. Chances are even if you get to dress you won't play much if you're #17 or 22. Really you should be one team where you'll play a lot more and never have to worry about dressing
