There is an account that posted regarding a referee getting assaulted in NJ at a U10 game over a corner/goal kick decision. It might just be propaganda because there are no posted news stories about it. Can anyone confirm if this happened and where?

Just because there's nothing published doesn't mean it didn't happen. But if it doesn't involve your kid or club why are you googling it?

Stupidest post ive seen in awhile. If a ref gets assaulted in NJ, do you really think that doesnt affect anything else? Doesnt affect YOUR kids games. wake up

How does it effect YOU? It doesn't, if it even happened.

Heads in the sand if anyone can't see there is 1, a ref shortage and 2, more unqualified Refs. They get abused.

1) if true, referees could strike across the state.
2) there was already discussion of a bill in the state legislature to make referees on the same plane as bus drivers, police officers, etc.
3) it might further discourage new refs. We are already in such short supply, which is part of the reason many of the current games are so bad.

thats just 3. I probably have 10 more. The most annoying thing is that we have a ref shortage and there isnt a current available digital course to get certified to ref. So this ref shortage is partially or mostly to blame NJ Soccer. If you dont have refs, encorage people tp beome refs. The common retort to a ref complaint is "go become one" but i would love someone to show me how that is available now. Ive done Safesport and the other training.

not just that, but there also arent grassroots courses you can take. There are none scheduled.. Thats a huge problem
