ECNL Girls playing up a year

For ECNL girls, any instances of field players being on the official roster for a birth year above? eg a 2009 girl being on the official roster of a 2008 ECNL team - is it relatively rare? Is it a good idea for development and college recruitment (given kid will be graduating at least a year after other teammates)? Why not let daughter shine in an age appropriate team?

Haven't heard of any instance of this.

I'm sure it probably happens, but I am not aware of any instances of this either. IMO, if a girl is able to play up and gets a fair amount of playing time doing so, I don't see the harm. Certainly, the tougher the competition she faces the more she will likely improve as a player.

MFA has tried having players play up on our 07 girls ECNL team, and it was a total disaster, they could not compete and took playing time away from much better players, causing us to lose games.

Many ECNL teams have 1-2 players who get YNT call-ups, so presumably these players are stellar players who could play up an age-group. But I've never heard of an ECNL club that has put that level of player on a year-up roster. I doubt the level of play 1 year up is that much better for it to make sense to move that player up.

There was a 2011 girl playing on the 2010 MF RL last year (ok, not REALLY ECNL). She switched clubs this year to a true 2011 ECNL team

              Why would they do that?

My daughter played up on a 2010 ECNL team from a 2011 pre-ECNL team last year. She played with them when there was no conflict with her team and would only give the starters some rest before and after the half. But, I've never seen a girl fully-rostered on an older ECNL team.

Yes, of course. Playing up for a couple of games happens a lot, particularly if the higher-aged team has injuries or particular conflicts and needs additional players on a specific game day. But fully-rostered for the year doesn't happen as far as I have seen.

Dom,Jordan and Rob lather told the girls that the players who are playing up with the 07’s are much better than the girls on their true age group teams , but that is totally false they are just trying to kiss certain parents asses as usual.

Isn't there a restriction on the number of games kids can play on a day/weekend in ECNL? If so, just playing up on an older ECNL team may be difficult.

Yes, players on ECNL/ECRL rosters can only play 1 game per day, so if you play up one game you can't play with your regular team the same day.

If your kid is “playing up” and barely playing, take the hint, the coach wants you to stop complaining and transition to your age appropriate team.

How does the coaches nut taste?

Why? Do you want to fantasize about tasting it?
