For ECNL girls, any instances of field players being on the official roster for a birth year above? eg a 2009 girl being on the official roster of a 2008 ECNL team - is it relatively rare? Is it a good idea for development and college recruitment (given kid will be graduating at least a year after other teammates)? Why not let daughter shine in an age appropriate team?

MFA has tried having players play up on our 07 girls ECNL team, and it was a total disaster, they could not compete and took playing time away from much better players, causing us to lose games.

There was a 2011 girl playing on the 2010 MF RL last year (ok, not REALLY ECNL). She switched clubs this year to a true 2011 ECNL team

Yes, of course. Playing up for a couple of games happens a lot, particularly if the higher-aged team has injuries or particular conflicts and needs additional players on a specific game day. But fully-rostered for the year doesn't happen as far as I have seen.
