    D1 Christian?

When people say “they play D1” is that the same as a D1 Christian school? We have a mom who keeps bragging that her kid is already committed to a D1 school but it’s a D1 Christian school. Are they the same merit? Or is she playing fast and loose with semantics and terminology? (Asking because she has outright told people that their kids are not D1 material so we would love to knock her down a peg if warranted).

So many levels of DI, any descent ECNL player could play D! if they wanted to; power 5 is a different story

It's not the same. There is a separate Christian athletics asociation for very very small schools and there are two divisions, division 1 and 2. So they are division 1 in the Christian athletics asociation, not NCAA.

There are like 335 D1 women's programs with a wide variation of quality. Also on any roster there will be a slide from top starter to bench warmer. A few of them also happen to be "Christian" schools. Of those, few are any good. Just look at the D1 rankings to get a sense of where her kids program fits. Bottom D1 is pretty weak and overlaps with top D3. There's a lot more "Christian " schools in D2 and D3 - smaller schools, lesser known. D2 tends to not be great academics. There's some incredible academic schools in D3 but only thr top D3 programs arr any good soccer wise

Anyway, yeah her kid is going to be a D1 athlete that happens to be at a Christian school. Obviously being a Christian school is important to their family (whatever, eyeroll from me). How much she plays remains to be seen. Lots of kids barely play and aren't on a roster by junior year.

Why does it bother you what this parent tells people? Does it affect your kid?

The NCCAA is different than the NCAA. Just google it.

Not truly D1. Let her believe whatever gets her through the day. Day. Arguing with stupidity is a never ending circle.

Well said. This is also can be said for every D1 program that has no chance of either winning their league title, league tournament or making the NCAA tournament. Whatever gets you through your day thinking playing D1 is all the same.

Because she actually told my kid and others that they weren’t d1 material. So yes it does affect me personally.

D1 Christian isn't D1. If the league doesn't have a shot of making the big show then why bother with her comments. She's obviously trying to validate something she knows is a stretch for how good she is.
