What led them to cry? Kids are too sensitive these days and coaches aren’t half as bad as they used to be. No one wants to teach their kids accountability. Good forbid you give a child constructive criticism. I’m not even sure you’re allowed to call it these days!

Posts like this are problematic; readers have no idea as to the context, tone of voice, or intent behind what this coach allegedly said after the game. Sadly, in the TS court of public opinion, everyone is a monster. I also agree with what others have said; parents are too sensitive these days and that is reflected in their kids and their own behavior. Everyone is looking for something to be offended by. When your team doesn't win, your kid gets fewer minutes, your kid received direct (and likely spot-on) criticism of their performance....hell, even when a competing club has success you feel the need to spread derision on this godforsaken forum. Look in the mirror before you air your own business here.

Not the OP, but probably mostly frustration that the adult in charge isn't good at managing or leading them. If your boss consistently made bad decisions, and didnt put your group in a position to succeed, then berated you for the ****ty outcomes, you'd be frustrated too. They have nowhere to vent it so they cry. They aren't soft by any means. The only person never held accountable is the one in charge.

Well guess what, my daughter is on said team and was on the field when this happened and situationally it is worse than what the OP wrote but I'm not going to get into it. And in the court of "public defense" on TS there is blind defense like yours that assumes that all parents are blowing things up without context. Well context this: my daughter was on the field, people were crying, said coach had words, message, etc that created more crying and then the "I don't give a s**t if you cry" line to them. Say what you want but I saw what I saw as did my daughter.

Big difference between a bully vs just not caring. If he said as claimed, he spoke the unvarnished truth that many coaches feel. They're rarely nurturers but on the flipside that doesn't excuse bad behavior.

In fact the crackdown on bully coaches has gotten a lot of much needed attention, finally. Are they still out there? Yes, but clubs and schools have far less tolerance for bad behavior now.

I'm not saying that the coach is right because I don't have context and I don't know what was said but at the end of the day in life if your boss is wrong and you throw them under the bus it tends to backfire. Making your coach look bad so they would get fired doesn't make you come off as a team player. All these post tell me more about the team parents than the coach.

Try and sort it out on your own first, even with advice from them but having them take action. Nor should parents go whining to higher ups every time their kid hits a road block. See if your kid can work through it first, offer them support. Only get involved if they can't get things resolved OR if it's an issue of immediate safety.

Agree in theory not practice. Seems these posters are referencing a specific issue and coach.
College coaches for the most part are pretty above board (except Dorrance at UNC but he’s half dead). Too much risk after NWSL sued and won and if you read it they cite the issues with youth soccer and new no tolerance. You can lose your shirt with a toxic coach. Not worth the risk from the business perspective. There are tons of coaches that are lovely and run successful programs/teams with no issues.
