Club offer, no specific team designated

Would you ever accept an offer from a club in which they tell you they will decide teams over the summer? Is this common practice? Feels like they are just trying to get in as many deposits as possible, if they told everyone the actual team people wouldn't join. I've heard some clubs do this as a matter of practice at younger ages, such as PDA. But then again, some of these clubs seem more like factories, collecting bodies (and $$$).

No, unless you have no other options or their b team will still be better than a team elsewhere. You can always politely ask them yif they see your child on a,b or c team. you have to trust them of course.

Going through that now. Club offered a spot in the club but not a specific team. It's an unusual situation so we talked with multiple coaches in the club and club director to hear what their plan was (which is basically splitting time between 2 teams - it's a little more complicated than that but that's the rough takeaway we got). We haven't decided yet if we will accept it but probably will.

Think about it for a second, if you are a top 6 or 7 player on the team, do you think you are getting the same e-mail. And if you got that kind of e- mail, wouldnt the parent just call the coach and say,i cant sign unless i know what team my daughters on. Now if your the coach talking to a top players parents, what are you going to say? Youre going to tell that player that she is on the top team. Youre not going to take a chance on losing a starter. So when you call the coach, a no answer is likely a b team answer.

The problem is that some of these clubs are trying to field a 2nd or 3rd club and are not sure if they will have the kids. So just say they want to have 3 teams and only get 40 girls. That would be REALLY tight (for 11v11). They might share players and such, or they might just put 20 on a team and you get very little playing time. So if you are willing to be on the lowest team, and have 20+ kids on the team, then go for it. If not, then look somewhere else. Never understood this. Even if they know you are concerned and then they offer you a spot on a "good team", it is not like it is a contract. Your kid could easily be pushed down after "more consideration"

Before you accept any spot, know who the coach is going to be, which team you are on, and how many players do they plan on having on the team

Don't do it, have been burned by this and had to look up new teams in the Fall and lost my $. Clubs doing this aren't prioritizing the players

I was told they are making more than 1 this year starting with the Fall U13. And honestly, their current U12G and U13G teams are pretty good (with the footnote on every U12 team, "but it depends who they keep for next year")

Good? Okay. There tournament wins happen because they bring more Guest players than regular players.

You should know where your player stands in the clubs eyes. Key point, not in relation to their peers but how the club sees them. Yes they are collecting bodies but more importantly checks. NEVER trust the clubs.

At D's club, the pricing is different depending on the team.

Well. How would you feel if they kept your daughter mostly on the B team?If you are ok with that then you are making the right move.
If you are not ok with that then Buyer Beware. You are buying in to that real possibility
