Worry about the club, the coaching and fit, less the league. In general ECNL is stronger and more competitive than GA, but there are some good GA teams. There are also some bad ECNL clubs. Where your player fits and how much they play matter too. Sitting the bench on a top team isn't as beneficial as a team where they play a lot. College coaches shop both leagues. Costs are similar- it's all too expensive

as for someone with no one on any ECNL or GA teams, to me, it seems like ECNL's top teams are better than GA's top teams, but on average GA's teams are better than ECNL. So it comes down to a choice. Do you want to be on the top team, but have to play a bunch of bad teams, or be on team not quite as good, but most games matter?

but again, varies greatly birth year to birth year (but that's the problem with club v club)
            bash away!!!

Pick based on the coach, team culture and convenience. Going an extra 30 minutes out of your way just for ECNL might seem like no big deal but over the course of a full year that adds up and impacts performance in school and sport, and it becomes a burden on parents, too.

So not true. Once you get past the top 10 GA clubs the rest is pretty awful. Any team may have a few quality players but there's no depth. Yes ECNL has some poor clubs too but there's more quality depth in terms if rosters amd clubs.

To the op also keep in mind that while coaching is vital it also can and probably will change. Make sure a club has a strong group of coaches. Going for just one coach is risky because they could be gone tomorrow. If you don't like the rest of the staff keep looking

Let’s look at this regionally. I don’t disagree with what your are saying on a national level however ECNL in this area is weak after PDA.

The whole area is weak from a talent standpoint. Too many chefs and the drinks are watered down at every club. There would need to be serious attrition to get back to having "elite" teams as the mediocre talent we have is now being spread even thinner.

This stupid website blocked me posting this rmultiple times. I'm not a robot!

It mostly isn't, so erring towards the stronger league ECNL makes sense (assuming it's a skill fit for the player).

We say this, but yet our teams show decently against teams from other parts of the country in showcases and National playoffs. Beating them in finals is always tough, but for a few examples, PDA 07 beat Solar last year in the nationals. The year before World Class 06 lost in the semi final vs the eventual champions, KCA on pens. While NE teams aren't uniformly stomping through cali and texas teams, it isn't as if we dont have teams that show up and compete well.

First question. Does your kid have a shot at making a team in either? It’s not like these are you-get-to-pick leagues.
