No, all ECNL clubs do not operate the same way. Some are 2 days a week and maybe a game on the weekend. Not going to name the club but they also shy away from most tournaments as well at certain ages.

It’s a shame as they miss out on great exposure and the opportunity to be identified for National player pool.

NY ODP weeds out the good from the mediocre over many tryout rounds. They just have one team per age group and that's the way it should be.

Until the weeded down players don’t show and you are left with 8 to play 11v11. The selection process is fine. The issues are that mostly the parents overcommit with multiple obligations and skip ODP regularly and players don’t tell or are not allowed by club coach to miss a club event for ODP. The schedule is shared months in advance and it’s communicated to all regularly but ultimately it’s considered secondary and not a top priority like it was x years ago. The program is strong, educational, competitive, and fun but the lack of fully committed players/parents causes issues. Not sure why parents embark on a $1k+ program and treat it as optional. My kids fully enjoyed ODP over the years and looked forward to it. They made friends and had good coaches. To each his own but if you commit, then take it seriously. What’s the point of showing up whenever you like?

It’s excellent programme it gives quality training on top of the club training and gives good exposure to college coaches to. Our GA club encourage and do not care if conflict once in while. Very fair.

NJ attends NJ, MD, VA, and EPA friendlies as well as NY sub regional and the Eastern regional events. On top of that they hold a inter squad scrimmage day at the start of the season so all the players can play against each other and coaches can get a feel for who can do what. They also host the Memorial day event which is usually a mix of inter squad and EPA. That's 8 events or basically tournaments, that is a lot no matter what club or league you play for. Its good that they do all of that because it allows players with club commitments to still participate. I don't agree with how many they took this year or last year as you can easily notice the drop off and when you have more than 18 on a roster for Eastern it becomes counter productive as the point is to get noticed for selection to Eastern ID which is hard to do when players a subbed in every 10-15mins rotating everywhere.

The GA league is much more flexible so doing ODP is feasible. ODP Nice addition to the resume to attract attention from top colleges. If you can fit it’s very worth the time.

That’s actually very commendable of the club and your team to be flexible. ODP is a great alternative and added quality training for sure.

If you are north of Westampton then PDA White, Blue, maybe STA depending on distance; if you are east then still PDA White, Blue, CSA Monmouth; West, well your in PA and for what a mess Bucks is they still win out over South; if you are south of Westampton then your options would be Real, SJEB, and maybe PF, Delco, or Sporting. So just in GA and ECNL there are better options depending on where you live.
