Please check back in after it’s time for your kid to go to college. Please be honest on the amount of money she is getting to play and what the acceptance rate of the school is. Until then calculate all of the money you spend on this dream and report back so we can have a look at the investment and the return.

There's no ROI on high cost/travel soccer. Just accept the fact that Chris Rock said it best "my job is to keep my baby off the pole". So that's the soft-cost ROI by keeping my kid busy and connected to a great bunch of kids mostly headed in the same direction. If she can take it to college to play - it's the icing.

So it’s club soccer or the pole? You might want to rethink your surroundings.

Girls were playing at an ECNL Showcase in Florida. A parent was yelling motivation to his daughter who was playing on the pitch. What the parent didn’t know was the college coach scouting his daughter was also standing on the parents sideline and heard/watched everything being said. That player was “ghosted” by the coach after that day. Lesson to be learned by this story. Parents who know nothing about soccer and have never played soccer shouldn’t “motivate” their kids while they are playing. That’s what a coach does. That kid lost a commitment opportunity from a very good Patriot League school because the parent couldn’t shut up with their motivation.
Poor attempt at sarcasm with the term motivation. Sorry you cost your kid a 5% scholarship to an average school.

5% scholarship is only for the top 1% in girls soccer, but the poster was at an ECNL event in Florida so they are very important and you shouldn't offend them.

Lol, it was an ECNL showcase in FL to be exact and his daughter was on the pitch and not a field (that's where the better players get to play). That poster is very important indeed. His daughter also holds the record for most juggles at 3145 in 5 minutes, has 4 pair of $500 cleats and still has no friends, but her dad says that's because she's too busy training not because no one her age can stand her or her dad.

Adults wearing club gear (costume)is almost as creepy as adults who go to Disney without kids. Very very creepy.

I've never really thought one way or another about youth team clothing. Now adults who wear jerseys are creepy. I get if kids look up to some pro athlete and want to be them, but you'll never see me with another man's name across my back. I know people do it everywhere, but it has never made any sense. Why not just wear a Giants shirt or whatever team you cheer for? Why would you specifically want to wear something for Saquan or one other guy unless you have a crush on him?

What does that have to do with my comment? Everyone is not the same. I never doubted that both my kids had the ability to play in College if they chose to. My point is that to do that, they had to participate in the existing system, which costs money.

Wear whatever you want, just don't say "we" when talking about your kid's team or any other team you don't play on. You are not on the team.

Someone did the math on another thread but around here if they play in GA or ECNL they "should" get something unless they are going for a reach school or don't find a good college fit. Basically, the math is that for the entire nation between GA and ECNL they could only provide 70-75%ish of the total number of players that go on to play in college if every player played in college. So it isn't the top 1%.

Here I was telling you amateur TS parents a real story to learn from and all you come up with is a comment you think is funny. My daughter did very well thank you. I was one of the few parents who grew up playing soccer, played in college and love the game. I also knew this was her time and knew to stay in my own lane.

Agreed. I know a couple that went in their honeymoon to Disney. I’d almost prefer them wearing a full club kit on the sidelines.
