Are we watching the same game? UCLA player no. 15 push the goalie into the goal. You can not just ram into goalie in goalie box. Out of 100 situations like that reffs will call foul 100 times. The said thing is that ref on that goal was completely out of position, she was outside of box and she had no view on what happening on the goal line. Also, the side ref should see that goalie was pushed into the goal. Complete incompetency on the reff's crew that should not happen o the game of that importance.

Goalie left her feet as she jumped for the ball.
The same goalie that jumped multiple times, could not handle/spilled and fell. She is not getting the call.

She got rammed into the goal by opposing team player, you can not do that to the goalie, no matter if the goalie is on the ground or in the air.

Goalie absolutely did not leave her feet and was basically rammed/elbowed out of the way on the tying goal. Personally, I'm no fan of UNC or that POS Dorrance but objectively, that was contact that should have negated the goal.

Watch it again. I just did. She jumped up. Tried to parry with wrong hand (right instead of left). Just fanned it as she was kind of short.
it is like calling a cheap pk for someone just going down but had no real shot at getting to the ball. It was a good non call. She was never going to make a play on the ball.

It was correct hand/side but she wiffed. She did jump/leave her feet. She was leaning on player but hit a pack of players. It is not only her space on an uncontrolled ball.

                    You still don't get it.
It doesn't matter if she is going to make a play or not, this is not American football, you can not rammed into the goalie, and that is what #15 did, she took her out completely.
#15 on UCLA team did not jump straight up, she went after the UNC goalie.

The player in blue had her entire forearm at a 90 degree angle with the keepers chest while she pushed her into the net.

I agree. She was not getting to the ball. Like in football terms, it was uncatchable. Also agree with non call.

Could you see the new strategy otherwise? Coach to gk, just go down so they stop play and we get ball.

Also watched 1st ot where she came out and ball went through both hands on a corner. Ball was spilled into the crowd. Should play be stopped? No.

They have 40 on roster. Most will never see time.

Looks like the are pushing each other. Gk is position to launch by leaning into blue player. She fans on ball as she jumps.

That is what players do to prevent her from coming out. Crowd the gk; take away the space, etc.

Where were the unc players blocking that from happening? Oh they were behind the gk. She fell into them when she jumped and wiffed.

She and her teammates were not positioned properly. Gk misplayed ball.

Some great athletes, but in this particular game, not many. We dont teach the game. we roll the ball out, set up goals and make it all about the uniform and who wins. That game was the pinnacle of that. Exciting? Yes. Commitment? Yes Hard work? yes. All of that. Quality? Not much. Not a single player on the field who could put their foot on the ball and dictate the pace of play. No consistent effort to play thru midfield. the game becomes a long shot, set piece, crossing contest based on physicality. Head down, go forward. Very little creation of overloads, via quick ball movement etc.

That said, its getting harder and harder to build a settled team with the portal, transfers are easier and players seem to be more focused on individual brands than they ever were. Fans of the teams just want to win and how they get there is irrelevant.

There is no payoff for developing better players. The system is set up this way for a reason.
