They are missing a lot of talent by the way of recruitment while countries like Spain, Japan won’t overlook smaller, smart, technical players.
Yes. IMO where we have gone wrong is teaching 1 position to young players and through the US soccer system. They then focus only on that and never get true understanding of the game, they can’t because they haven’t tried anything else.

The rest of the countries have quickly adapted to a modern Form of “Total Football” which means all players adapt to any position and have the ability to quickly switch positions depending on the on-field situation. That I what I believe Japan, Netherlands, England may be doing example: Daly (forward, playing defense).
So therefore the other countries are looking for a completely different player than we are in the US.
They are looking for a player that comfortable in multiple positions, which requires higher level of understanding of the game, and more intelligent, technical players. The US chooses the big, fast, strong player that is good at their one position. Until that changes US soccer will fall behind. Not sure how we fell off course when in the past we did have such players - like Mia Hamm.

Secondly the reason or uswnt is losing is bc the teams don’t play cohesively not bc the arent able to dribble around everyone. Too much emphasis on trying to go 1v1 and make something happen and not enough passing.
PDA is ranked as 3rd best club in county, with that accolades comes responsibility. If there is a problem with US youth soccer, PDA as one of top clubs is responsible for it.

So how much money did the parents of those girls spend to get them in a position to lose to…… Nigeria. Congrats, time to clean house and find girls who can actually win.

You people are nuts. PDA is absolutely not responsible for anything at a national level. They simply take girls who want to play for them and make the best team possible and teach them how to play as a team. Was PDA responsible for the USWNT 20 year run of being the best in the world? NO. This is a problem that can be fixed. There are absolutely 25 women who could still dominate. They need a strong coach to make them buy into a system and put their egos aside. And they need to get rid of the cancer named Rapinoe.

Having watched the replay, coaching was not the problem. That group of girls simply did not have it. Not athletic enough to physically dominate, not skilled enough to technically dominate. There are only one or two strong enough to move forward. The rest are woefully meh.

So who picked the players for the squad and put them on the field? The Coach. Therefore coaching problem. See how that works?

Sure, the coach is a voice, but there is an entire system built around selecting these types of players. Low IQ bumblers that can't even see passes, let alone make them. With the national pools filled with basketball players posing as soccer players the coach is irrelevant.

GTFOH with that total football bullshif. The only one playing that is Japan because they have to. They've realized long ago that their players are not going to win one on ones so they've committed to a passing game 100% where they all have to be on the same page. That style of play comes and goes and is by no means the end all be all of soccer. With that said the US needs to come up or better yet pick what style of soccer they are going to play and stick to it and they have to start implementing it with the young teams and commit to it win or lose.

Watch the way most PDA teams play soccer and it resembles the ugly American brand of soccer. It won in the past it won’t win in the future which is obviously now. The coaching at PDA is subpar and equal to bashing players into one another to see how tough women can be. It’s bad.

Japan is not the only one. Do you have a better idea for the US? Because what we are teaching ain’t working mate.

One on one play doesn’t win games at the international level.

Play a 4-3-3 and isolate the wingers. In every age group including the Sr the women have good wingers that can beat their opponent almost every time. Since possession is not our thing spread them out and pick them off.
