Back to STA as all these posts seem to end up speaking about that other club. It really will be interesting to see what they do going forward on the girls side. Their 09s are probably the last OK team. Below is looking bad and they will need a major shake up

also her 2009s just beat World Class and East Meadow ECNL so there’s that
Not sure that’s saying much. EMSC is literally the worst in the ECNL no idea how they are still there. The WC team that age isn’t good for some reason bc the talent went to MF and PDA Blue. Plus I heard they have like 5 trapped 2008 players.

why would a player living in the area around WC drive all the way south to play for MF shore ?

I feel like every time I’ve played that 2011 team they’re always missing their ‘best’ player.

Even their best GA players are leaving to go to ECNL so I don’t think they will pick up any players - they’ll have to develop what they have and right now that is low level teams
of course they will. Very few people north of Morris county will drive an extra 45 minutes (on top of whatever they are driving now) to have their kids play PDA White and lose every game. There are some really good 2010-2012 kids still playing for their town teams that will want more of a challenge and play for STA or some other team

Plus I’d imagine as PDA keeps recruiting and replacing, those players will go to MF and STA.

STA 2013-2011s are all average to lower average teams.

Yup and they’re the next set of teams entering GA. That’s why we need to get promotion/relegation. That way money and status doesn’t matter, the best teams will play against the best teams.

Agree 100% until that happens it’s pay to play all the way.

STA doesnt play to win until 11v11. They play to develop players.
Their goalies will not punt, the girls will move around, and winning comes second to developing the girls skills.
Sometimes its hard to deal with, but it does improve the players. However it does hurt recruiting, most of the teams have been together with no stud player transferring to improve the team.
The 2010s may be the original girls, the 09s added a player and a goalie last year who are very good, but the core has remained the same.
One stud offensive player can often be the difference and not having the results will often keep that player away.
Lastly, the parents for the most part seem very friendly.
I dont know how people can watch games with parents that are terrible examples for their children and suck the enjoyment out of the game.

This is pretty much all true. Speaking as a parent who was there several years before moving on for what we thought would be a better situation. The 2011 pre-GA team looks to be mainly the same players, but the performance isn't as sharp. Can't say why because they were always a strong team. Haven't been able to find pre-GA scores for them, but saw them at couple tournaments over the last year. I also know the top 2012 team struggled for a long time. Brought in a GA coach last year and they are a completely different team when we saw them last, playing good aggressive soccer. From the looks of the Premier 1 flight in EDP they are hanging with, with or beating the top teams, all very close games. Like you said, one stud offensive player would probably be the difference for a team with solid fundamentals. With a few exceptions, most of the current "top" teams in these lower ages are relying on a game that won't translate well to 11v11, overly direct or overly physical with very little else. Not sure what the "average to lower average" assessment in based on, but probably one of the insecure parents we've been dealing with at a local competitor.

Lol. That top flight of EDP at 2012 is a joke - most of the teams not good enough to be in there. If you put the top 5 teams from each league (red and blue) in there to make it really the top ten in the state then STA would not be competing in any way at all. I think the other divisions has a lot stronger teams in it.

The 2011 team is weak and if you mean lose all the time to the top teams over the last year then yeah they have definitely done that!

Hmm. All of a sudden sta posts how its 2011 pre ga team breaks the ball out. I guess they read the boards or they're the op. Anyway I found the pre ga standings. Good news. Sta on top. Bad news, there's no standings. Seems like scores aren't updated. Locally seems like they played both csa' s. Other than that, haven't heard of many of teams, oakwood? Heard of seacoast, not sure how good they are. Anybody know results of local games?

                              Ok let’s do that.
                              Top 5 team in blue:
                              Real NJ
                              SJEB pre-GA
                              CSA Monmouth
                              Freehold
                              Valencia

                              top 5 in red:
                              FA black
                              WCFC
                              FA silver
                              Torpedoes
                              STA

Can only assume you’re feeling a little insecure about all those GA and township teams to come on here and bash a bunch of 10 year olds. Don’t worry, they are developing those players nicely & your badge will pull a good number of them within the next 1-2 years.

STA lost to Valencia in state cup so if you compare their top 5 to the other top 5, yes STA would end up bottom of this group of 10. A very average team and a pretty average age group in all honesty. All the best 2012s are playing up still.
