Almost as smart as joining an academy at U17 taking someone’s spot and getting a D1 scholarship. That’s the way to go.

Why should you experience life on your own away at college living on campus when you can have mom cooking your meals and doing your laundry. 1/2 the price for 13th & 14th grade. Sounds like fun.
Unless something traumatic happened in HS - you typically wind up at CC if you just didn’t do the work. And if it was for financial reasons that’s bull**** bc schools give tons money to smart hardworking students from lower income families.

Yes many CC courses are remedial HS classes. Depending on the CC it's semi easy to transfer to the state flagship shool(s) but not higher academic privates. They won't always accept the credits and you have to retake classes. No sports in CC either so it's not really a path for athletes
What I have seen work often is kids go to a lower academic school, kick ass there then transfer to a stronger school. Some kids, especially boys, are late bloomers in high school and need to prove they can handle a college workload

financially yes. But as a person that hires a lot - we absolutely look at resume details like two years of Cc. You can’t avoid that. If you are going into the corporate world it’s tricky to explain. If going non corporate it shouldn’t be a problem but I wouldn’t know.

Unfortunately it’s a very tough corporate world with a lot of competition especially in NY. Soccer competition in our area is a good practice of what’s to come after school if you stay in the tri-state.

Sound like sour grapes and maybe you should talk to your wife about why you are so unhappy in life.

Better off with a gap year. And then go to a 4 year program. CC is not a bad thing but one cannot expect it will give you the same outcome as a student who worked really hard in HS, studied, played sports to get into a solid 4 year program.

Yes that makes sense. I don’t understand how CC has become a part of the conversation on this board. OP talked about how smart it was to pay 1/2 for Rutgers but it’s my understanding that even RU doesnt accept the credits and essentially you wind up paying for CC and then extra credits for RU. So not sure where the “smart” comes in here.
