I know it gets clicks and engagement, but the PDA/RU connection is not a net positive if the goal it to be consistently among the top 10 programs in the USA. it is probably good enough to be among the top 25 or so consistently.

Also tons of props to PDA and rightfully so. They did a whole segment on that during Final 4 last year. Last I checked Final 4 means you’re top 4 in the USA.

2) top programs shop globally, not just locally
3) a massive, soccer deep state like CA might be able to pull off a championship state squad, but not NJ.

or is it something else?

I feel calling a person a top player depends on how much you pay for those Stars they have next to your name on these sites as topdrawer. Whatever publication that you feel suits your needs or whatever publication has the listeners ear. I laugh at it sometimes because I know people eat that stuff up and it drives people crazy either seeing or not seeing their kids name. In my opinion there are probably way more kids that are not playing in the "Power 5" that are way better then most of these Power 5 kids but they choose a different direction for their own personal future. I think all these kids are top players in my opinion because as elite as I though I was these kids train way harder and have to deal with so much more outside nonsense then any of ever had. Back in the day you only had to worry about if fan (mostly if not all teenagers) heckling you at a game...no not these kids they have grown "A" adults blasting them and their dreams on an open forum. You got grown "A" trying to call out some 13, 14, 15 year old kid for missing a goal opportunity or giving up a goal. Naw these kids are far more top-notch then any of us. I have to say I don't really take that US Soccer stuff too serious as I know its not what you know but who you know and we all know the best of the best does not attend these camps. Its life and we can't be upset that things aren't fair...well I tell my kids that anyway lol.

Soccer wise. Better than a Michigan this year but worse than Penn State
Academically better than Penn State worse than a Michigan
Not a bad place to be
It may not be the top program but its one of a number of top programs. If your daughter gets an offer from Rutgers, your daughter is a player.

Absolutely, thanks for posting Soccer Nut. The haters continue to put down Rutgers saying no top NJ players go there…which is just plain false. They usually get the best the Garden State has to offer. Not all of them, but most of them year after year. Albeit via PDA pipeline, which is one of the top National Academies year after year.
