They sure do and if it benefits RU then it’s truly a win win. Hope the men’s program starts to get similar props and recognition now too!

Like someone said top programs get their players from all over. RU has done well with what they have but being a mostly NJ roster isn't going to get the job done - besides the obvious fact that top NJ players have many choices and RU/NJ wont appeal to many.

Also tons of props to PDA and rightfully so. They did a whole segment on that during Final 4 last year. Last I checked Final 4 means you’re top 4 in the USA.
And they got bounced early this year. Repeat last years performance a few more times then you can use the term "elite"

              1) they don't keep all the states top players
              2) top programs shop globally, not just locally
              3) a massive, soccer deep state like CA might be able to pull off a championship state squad, but not NJ.

                or is it something else?

Now you know you are never going to get a straight answer on this lol lol. It's kinda like beauty....it's clearly in the eye of the beholder. I feel calling a person a top player depends on how much you pay for those Stars they have next to your name on these sites as topdrawer. Whatever publication that you feel suits your needs or whatever publication has the listeners ear. I laugh at it sometimes because I know people eat that stuff up and it drives people crazy either seeing or not seeing their kids name. In my opinion there are probably way more kids that are not playing in the "Power 5" that are way better then most of these Power 5 kids but they choose a different direction for their own personal future. I think all these kids are top players in my opinion because as elite as I though I was these kids train way harder and have to deal with so much more outside nonsense then any of ever had. Back in the day you only had to worry about if fan (mostly if not all teenagers) heckling you at a game...no not these kids they have grown "A" adults blasting them and their dreams on an open forum. You got grown "A" trying to call out some 13, 14, 15 year old kid for missing a goal opportunity or giving up a goal. Naw these kids are far more top-notch then any of us. I have to say I don't really take that US Soccer stuff too serious as I know its not what you know but who you know and we all know the best of the best does not attend these camps. Its life and we can't be upset that things aren't fair...well I tell my kids that anyway lol.

Like the poster said they dropped out early this year. A good program but not an elite one with multiple final fours and a title here and there. Winning consistently takes more than just recruiting. Its also about coaching and chemistry.

And not for nothing but Top Drawer soccer rankings?

                    Defense wins Championships..............offense sells tickets.

                        Agreed A good program.

Soccer wise. Better than a Michigan this year but worse than Penn State
Academically better than Penn State worse than a Michigan

Not a bad place to be

It may not be the top program but its one of a number of top programs. If your daughter gets an offer from Rutgers, your daughter is a player.

Absolutely, thanks for posting Soccer Nut. The haters continue to put down Rutgers saying no top NJ players go there…which is just plain false. They usually get the best the Garden State has to offer. Not all of them, but most of them year after year. Albeit via PDA pipeline, which is one of the top National Academies year after year.

Could not deliver with top talent, to me it’s Coach’s fault.

Top recruits that O’Neil can’t consistently win with.

Ok than where is the issue? It’s a fact that they are not an elite program. Why? I think O’Neil is wrong for this program. You don’t need him to pull from PDA. Most of the kids don’t like him anyway.
