True. Ask Smith about this practice. It pays his mortgage and feeds his family.

Unfortunately arrogant aholes such as MS operate with total disregard for the kids.

If anyone thinks that parents behavior and attitude doesn’t ever effect PT, you must not be living in reality.
Any coach or other position of authority who takes out dislike or exacts revenge on a kid or player because they don't like someone connected to that kid or player is a horrible human being.

You treat people individually based on your experience with them.

That is why the gda while flawed for other reason made it a rule of competition that everyone on the roster had to play a specific amount of minutes.
And as the minutes were officially recorded like in college, it was easy to track. They had to start, they had to play, they had to be rostered a certain amount.
A great idea that should be carried forward in all leagues. This way all kids get to play and develop.

Of course. you know some coaches lie or intentionally deceive or mislead people's kids. Equally despicable.

Any parent okay with this should turn in their parent plaque. Mental health issues come from coaches playing head games with players. Everyone has a breaking point.

Or, you know, maybe the kid isn't good and/or has a bad attitude themselves. If a player is good most coaches will play them regardless of the parents, because it's about the kids. They shouldn't be punished becauseof their parents. Yes of course coaches shouldn't take players they don't think will add value. But they're human and make mistakes. Plus some coaches take over rosters they didn't chose. Kids should get meaningful PT but starting u13 - u14 more PT should be earned. Parents of bench warmers need to have a frank discussion with a coach and their player about finding a better fit.

Correct me if I'm wrong but at least initially they only had to start a certain %of games., not be given mandatory minutes. It was that way in BDA for a long time and coaches would start the weaker kids then yank them after a few minutes.

It was hard to just yank considering there were limitations on subs and re-entry. Most teams at least my kid's and those we played would give them at least most of the half.

Agreed. Provided the coaches will be honest. Let the parents know they don't have a place for the player as far as quality minutes.
I have watched coaches keep and not play kids so their opponents can't get them. Some coaches forget it is the kid's experience not theirs.

not a great idea because sports is not supposed to be egalitarian. the issue is money. to get enough, teams need to roster more kids that talent warrants. The best plkayers are not challenged, the bottom of th roster is overmatched. The system is set up for the middle of the roster. players should find their level and get playing time there, but that would kill the golden goose.

There is no one single player on Maryland team Fromm New Jersey.

Worked out a deal with MO? Would not be surprised.

Who is MO? I just stated a fact, based on previous comment that doesn’t have any sense.
