The only positive is that gymnastics and dance are way more time consuming and much more expensive. Talking $15k for the classes plus all travel and costumes. SoMe can spend $50k at the high level. And the time spent is insane. We are in a less expensive sport comparatively.

Hockey is also about 2X soccer.

It's around $16K - $3800 club, $650 this year for kit (hopefully will last 2 years), gas about $2000, tournaments around $3000, group training and camps $2000, private training around $5000 - didn't really count cleats, gloves, misc. I really try not to think about it, and I have zero illusions that some college scholarship is going to make this a financial win.

Hockey is worse. Equestrian many tines more than that.

My younger D did gymnastics for 10 years and it was never anywhere close to $15K/year. $5K/year for training, maybe 5 meets a year that required travel/hotel at an average of say $600/meet. Leotard was $400 every 2 years. So total around $8K-9K per year. Agree that the time spent is crazy with D in the gym 20hrs per week.

The time I get to spend with my kids and other families is priceless. Well with every penny and my time.
