    Time and Money

I'm curious, and let's please try to be honest. How much money per year do you estimate you spend (per kid) on club dues, uniforms and equipment, travel (count it all), private training, ID clinics, etc.? And for fun if you want, include the amount of time spent/per week on practice, training, games (including travel).

Silly question as fees and travel vary wildly by league club and age.

If you're worried you can't afford it rhey yoy probably can't. Consider that you'll be paying for multiple years, possibly multiple kids, and that costs only go up not down as they get older

Not really a silly question. It isn’t looking for a specific answer. It’s understood that all situations are different. Pretty simple question actually. How much cash do you plunk download each year in the name of soccer.

Embarrassingly I am probably in for close to 9k for one kid per year. Our drive to the practice field is far and games are all over the place. I’d estimate about 18 hrs a week.

Always one DBag with a DBag answer. It is not a silly question. You are a silly excuse of a person.

$8K for one ECNL player. Includes all travel and private training

What's the point of the OPs even posting it? Costs can range from the low end local rec program of say $500 to well over $10K and everything in-between. Plus it's talking soccer. It's hardly representative of anything.

I recently did the math. Scared the hell out of me. $10k for ECNL. Includes T&E. If the kid didn’t love it I’d pull the plug in a heart beat. Realistically you probably outspend any money a kid may ever get in scholarship or merit funds.

As far as time goes it’s disgusting. Can’t put a price on that. Again, it’s for the kid.

If you don’t have a kid who loves it find something local and less expensive.

I will have easily spent $17,000 for my 14 Y/O daughter. It’s even more if they make it to ECNL finals in Virginia.

This includes regular season tuition, uniforms, cleats, extra training, and travel. I even tried to estimate gas to get to games and practices. If I factor in the cost of lost time at work for taking 10-12 vacation days it easily adds about $4-5k on top of that. This is not a complaint but I want to be as realistic as possible.

This is the extreme. However I know some people who do even more private training which can easily be a few hundred per month.

Travel soccer beyond town travel is expensive. Any elite or academy requires lots of travel, most of which is unnecessary. Even regional teams are traveling more than necessary.

ECNL Playoffs alone in Seattle will cost close to $5k with flights, meals, hotels.

Just asking for voluntary answers. Understood that there will be a wide range of answers. If you don’t want to answer that’s fine.

I have a daughter that plays for PDA 2011 Blue. My total would be 5k from adding up fees, necessities, tournaments, travel, and futsal. My daughter doesn’t do that much private training, she mainly trains on her own with the equipment I bought her. That alone costed me 500$, so travel soccer is very expensive.

I have a boy and a girl (both ECNL) and I’d estimate we spend pretty close to $25k per year for soccer.

agreed! God forbid someone is interested in some budgetary insight.
