We're spending $1,000 for two flights, $1,200 for 7 nights hotel and $700 for car rental but I don't look for a return on investment when it comes to spending time with my daughter.

Airfare for two will run about 1500, hotels at 250/ night for 7 nights 1750, rental car 750, food and entertainment for a week figure 1000. $5k easily.

I’m going on 6/22/22. Hotels are subsidized through the ECNL travel sight, $159 p/night plus tax. Flying out of JFK for $450 on direct flights so actually just under $1000, and no red eye flights. I do think our hotel is slightly cheaper than others but we did not wait until June to book. Turo is a great car rental app. My only point is it’s still $3,000 in 2022. I do know some who didn’t book flights until June and are paying $1000+ per ticket and also can’t get a car for a reasonable price.

yeah depends where and where your team booked . car rentals can be expenseve. add in food and you are looking at $3500 at minimum and can go up to 6k depending on bookings$ and how many family members

We are also around $3,000 but quick tip for newer families traveling, you can book refundable tickets at any time and get a cross country rate (NJ to California) for under $400 a ticket. When it gets closer you can adjust your ticket dates for a small change fee and still pay less than waiting until a month or two before. If you want to plan for nationals 2023, buy the tickets in October then do a flight change fee once you know the actual dates. Tickets are the biggest variable… you can pay $400 or $1400 depending on when you book.

Most parents with girls in “elite” girls soccer do not have money problems. No one will have any sympathy for us crying about how expensive it is to travel to national finals each year.

With that being said, don’t forget to consider the cost of missing work or using 6-8 precious paid time off days if applicable to anyone. It is a true cost of going so the value of your days should be added.

Not everyone with kids at the "elite" level have money to burn. Some of us do scrimp, save and sacrifice so our kids can chase their dream. Sure they may not ever reach the national team or pros but at least they can have the opportunity for it. Plus the satisfaction for me as my poor kid knocks your rich kid out of a lineup or off a team is priceless.

Sure your kid can "flex" that they played in Seattle and walk through the airport in their club attire. Its something that the clubs and leagues have set up to make it seem like it is something more than kids soccer.

I think traveling to Seattle and paying 4k to 6k is beyond the pale. Youth soccer "pay to play" is out of hand. Traveling there and getting little time is moronic and the parents know it. And yet, here we are.

What's the difference if it's Seattle, Texas, Florida or North Carolina? The league sets the venues and a national league is going to move national playoffs around to different regions every year to appease its member clubs.

The Midwest would be best geographically, but they usually pick the west coast for better weather (summer tstorms in the Midwest are common)
