What age group took everyone who tried out? D plays 08 and while they took 60 for the 3 teams they had well over 200 that tried out. I would also like to point out the fact that I must have counted over a dozen PDA jerseys at any given tryout and I think 2 or 3 actually made a team.

There are tons of PDA teams. Doesn’t mean those girls played ECNL. I have seen PA take everyone who tried out during Covid year.

My D plays PDA ECNL. She made the ODP state team this year but we turned it down because too many conflicts (like this past weekend) and didn't want to waste our money when she would have missed many of the big events. There are 2 girls on my Ds team that are doing ODP but missed this weekend because PDA had games.

NH flat out discourages families on his team and other PDA teams from doing ODP. He was very quick to hold a parent meeting when he found out that a player was on the ODP team.

ODP simply brings top talent together so major D1 colleges have a nice set up to recruit. Congrats to the players that made these teams.

Hate to break it to you but no one is recruiting at ODP. If college soccer is your kids goal, then they need to find a ECNL, MLS Next, GA or top USYS team.

That's actually not true. My D's friend was spotted at ODP and developed a relationship with the college she now plays for. ECNL may be easier to have more colleges see you at the same time - but also harder because there is a lot of talent and if your kid doesn't perform that one day, they will get passed over quickly--sometimes by their opponent or another teammate. There is a place for every player that wants to play in college - may not be top D1 or Top D3 but if you want to play you can. Its also not as simple as play ECNL, go to showcase - get an offer. You also need really good grades and high test scores for the top academic soccer programs - unless of course you are YNT player, All-American etc.

Very well said and on point. Obviously the folks that put down ODP don’t even have a clue that it stands for OLYMPIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM which last time I checked is supposed to id the best of the best.

The best of the best who show up at tryouts. But not many ECNL or GA players tryout. So it’s really the best of the USYS players.

Ever consider the possibility that those USYS players are perhaps better than the other leagues you mention? Plenty of USYS teams beating up on GA clubs for example. Just the facts.

There are good players on USYS teams. But in terms of USYS teams beating GA, there are only truly a few (LM 06, Coppa 05 and Real 06). By HS years most GA and ECNL players are not playing ODP.

My U15 daughter had multiple ECNL players on her roster. They didn't stand out either. The best player was from USYS.

Most GA clubs in NJ would destroy their ECNL counterparts so makes perfect sense. Would be great if they played each other instead of all this talk on a soccer board.
