And a college coach recruiting even less time with said player. Maybe one half of a game and an ID camp. I would want all the input I can get from a non-biased party.

Outside all the comments here, i can say with 100% certainty 1) My son had fun 2) I wasnt looking for anything more

Since GA has been around all of 1.5 seasons and the younger ages are full of players I would wait a few years to determine if they decide to do it or not. I can say that at Ds age they have a few ECNL and GA players and a lot more that tried out but didn't make it. Being on an ECNL or GA team doesn't make a player elite or even the best in the area.

So is it for “keeping it fun and light” and not “cut-throat” like ECNL? Or is it a recruiting platform that coaches stream to watch? Make up your mind?
Zero coaches we’ve talked to think much of it. Not any longer. They are picking and choosing where to go and these events are redundant.
We have one girl on our team who plays. On some National Whatchamacallit. She’s not very good comparatively. But maybe she’s keeping it fun and light
