The dynamics are very very different, however, the girls teams seem to be stronger than the boys in comparison because there's so much concern and disruption to constantly try to identity 2-3 players to move up to MLS on the boys side that it hurts the teams in the long run, if they focused on actually building a strong team rather than desperately trying to identify the next Edelman to barely make RB II squad, boys team would do a lot better.
ECNL is the A league for girls. A few might want to go pro, even fewer actually will.
Plus some clubs are more "boys" or "girls" clubs. Not many do both exceptionally well

The only players who choose to go to RB or Philly Union are the ones offered the fast track to first team. Otherwise many players and their parents opt for their son to stay at PDA and go the college route. Making 35-40k on a usl team doesn’t do as much for a person as a degree from a university in the long run.

Same with the girls - the end game isn't great. The fact that Rodman got the largest contract in history at $1M over 4 years is a joke. Also the boys from the US don't make it very far - we can count the successful ones on 1 hand. Just play enjoy and use soccer if you can to get into a better college.

PDA boys U16 made the semi-finals in the MLSNext Cup 2021 (losing in a shootout)
PDA boys U17 made the finals in the MLSNext Cup 2021 against Orlando City FC
PDA boys U18 made the quarter finals in the MLSNext Cup 2021
Considering they are playing against MLS "pro" programs, it's a pretty good performance for a small club from NJ. It's a shame they lose players to RB.
Think the girls program and boys programs should find a way to work together. Mix up coaches, set up pick-up games, etc.
