    Yep. Good point.

Her previous coach (from 4 years ago) is now GA and has been recruiting her. My daughter wants faster speed of play, better training, and more college exposure. We are in the middle of the year and committed to this team (4 years) until spring is over, but my daughter wants to move now. She loves her team, has made lifelong friends, but she feels now is the time. What is the appropriate ettiquette? Is GA a good option (guaranteed position") or should we wait for ECNL tryouts in spring (no guarantee - teams are stacked).
My recommendation would be to consider the following:
1 - Which coach knows her better? She is in a critical time-period for recruiting, so the less time she needs to have a coach get familiar with her strengths/weaknesses and knows how to put her in the best position to succeed is a big factor.
2 - How deep is each team at her position? If the team she goes to has a need/shortage at her position, that will improve the chances that she gets the playing time she'll need to show what she can do. A tangential point is how flexible is she regarding what position she plays?

Coach being an a**hole. You can comb through the guidelines but unlike ECNL which specifically says no dual carding or playing on other teams with out proper permission, GA does not specify anything.

Like I said, I know a few that have been able to.

Would also say how much do you believe the GA coach and never trust the ECNL one (or any coach for that matter) if she has never played for them.

ECNL much tougher to make but also higher upside in terms of exposure. Just find a team/club that is the right fit.

Correct, basically goes ECNL, ECRL, GA and then EDP in terms of exposure opportunities and level of play. The reality is there is a level for everyone as you say do your research and find the right fit.

Don’t listen to this. ECRL is last. Like way last.

If college exposure is your goal, then Google each league’s recent showcase. Pretty easy to see which coaches are going to each.

If your kid wants to play D1 then best exposure is at GA or ECNL. If she’s on a top EDP team that can get invited to college showcases like Jeff Cup or Raleigh then that’s your third choice. ECRL is more for D3 and would be my last choice. All them you will likely need to go to ID camps. Just likely less of them if your playing GA or ECNL.

Hahaha. ECRL. Come on. You have got to be joking.

Fwiw, top-half of ECRL standings pretty much gets automatic acceptance at Jeff Cup and PDA Showcase, so it is more of a sure-thing than top EDP teams.

That’s true, by the way PDA Shore which is ECRL placed way more in college vs local GA or EDP options. Top EDP teams are now basically township teams that get very little exposure. It’s just the way it is.

No they don’t. Sure they likely get in because most GA and ECNL teams aren’t playing. Jeff Cup, and particular PDA showcase, draw way less coaches than ECNL or GA showcases.

PDA Shore is the ECRL unicorn/outlier.

Not sure what you are trying to say. First sentence says “no they don’t”, second says “sure they likely get in”. Which is it?

I’ll agree that college coach attendance up to U16 is fairly light at ECRL games. But D’s u17 team got 100+ coaches at both Jeff Cup and PDA Showcase (mostly D2 and D3) over each weekend. D2 and D3 don’t do much recruiting before U17.

The fact is the top D1 college showcases that draw the most colleges coaches are those put on by ECNL and GA. Those events are exclusive to the league clubs. Jeff Cup and to a much lesser extent the PDA Showcase don’t get the same amount of D1 coaches. Most ECNL and GA teams are not attending those events because they have league games to play and get more bang for the buck attending there own league showcases.
