Originally posted by Guest View PostMy daughter is a sophomore "05". 85% of team are juniors, and is on a National League team. They did very well at last college showcase. However, she is very serious about D1 and hopefully further into a career. College showcase exposure is ok for National League, but it has been recommended to move to GA or ECNL. Her previous coach (from 4 years ago) is now GA and has been recruiting her. My daughter wants faster speed of play, better training, and more college exposure. We are in the middle of the year and committed to this team (4 years) until spring is over, but my daughter wants to move now. She loves her team, has made lifelong friends, but she feels now is the time. What is the appropriate ettiquette? Is GA a good option (guaranteed position") or should we wait for ECNL tryouts in spring (no guarantee - teams are stacked).
1 - Which coach knows her better? She is in a critical time-period for recruiting, so the less time she needs to have a coach get familiar with her strengths/weaknesses and knows how to put her in the best position to succeed is a big factor.
2 - How deep is each team at her position? If the team she goes to has a need/shortage at her position, that will improve the chances that she gets the playing time she'll need to show what she can do. A tangential point is how flexible is she regarding what position she plays?

Like I said, I know a few that have been able to.

ECNL much tougher to make but also higher upside in terms of exposure. Just find a team/club that is the right fit.

Correct, basically goes ECNL, ECRL, GA and then EDP in terms of exposure opportunities and level of play. The reality is there is a level for everyone as you say do your research and find the right fit.
If college exposure is your goal, then Google each league’s recent showcase. Pretty easy to see which coaches are going to each.

ECRL is more for D3 and would be my last choice. All them you will likely need to go to ID camps. Just likely less of them if your playing GA or ECNL.

No they don’t. Sure they likely get in because most GA and ECNL teams aren’t playing. Jeff Cup, and particular PDA showcase, draw way less coaches than ECNL or GA showcases.
I’ll agree that college coach attendance up to U16 is fairly light at ECRL games. But D’s u17 team got 100+ coaches at both Jeff Cup and PDA Showcase (mostly D2 and D3) over each weekend. D2 and D3 don’t do much recruiting before U17.
