Yes, unfortunately learning this now with my daughter. It's all about the $ and most of these parents just nod their head and keep forking over the cash.

Somewhere along the way Soccer became big business in the US. Making it a better environment for the players is a complicated conversation.

        It's not unique to soccer.

My kids play other sports and their soccer clubs are leaps and bounds the worst offenders. The other sports/clubs give proper feedback, don't have crazy rosters and are just overall more normal. I do believe we have an issue with girls soccer in this state.

PDA is notoriously NJ unethical club.

Are they top level competitive sports or just rec/town sports because there is a big difference in the amount of hours, and resources dedicated to high level sports teams. Our local team is probably 1/3 the cost and no overnight travel but the difference in quality and dedication of her teammates is huge.

No OP but my kids play travel Lax and basketball and both have been way more normal, organized, consistent, good coaches and normal sized teams than soccer. Even with basketball (5 players, bench up to 12)---they are super fair. If you don't do well in the practice before the game you won't start and will play very little (but you are made aware). Its more of a dialogue than a dictatorship - which is how it should be IMO.

Girls soccer is in its own category. You have kids traveling to another state for 1 game and playing for 5 minutes - with no prior knowledge. That's not okay. Not sure it was always this way but it is now.
