    08 Girls Complete Discussion Thread

Well, since some other ages have this type of thread and it works, I figured I'd start one with for the 08s. As per the other similar threads, this should be used for score reports and game discussion, along with the rest.

Glad to see 4-5 NJ teams make the trip to WAGS. Based on the results, it looks like you have some differentiation among the top teams in ECNL and GA, but after that you can throw just about everyone in the same pot. Great to see the competition.

That assessment matches up with the seeding for the Fall Cup. Remains to be seen how it plays out.

Wish more clubs would sent teams to WAGS, it is a nice tournament and rivals Jeff Cup with the level of teams.

Don't you have to register for WAGS by July? Let's be honest, smart clubs were not willing to risk having another tournament canceled, or having travel restrictions again when the Delta variant was raging. Most teams stood close this fall

The results are interesting. GA held up well against ECNL teams. Looks fairly balanced. How is the GA doing with collegiate placement? I’m told the ECNL is second to none. Is this true?

ECNL places more players by about double of the GA but that doesn’t mean GA is lacking quality players either. Plenty of P5 players now and future will come from GA.

Are you sure about that? The ECNL vs GA head to head was 09s 8-3 ECNL with ECNL out scoring GA 13-6 and the 08s went 5-0-2 ECNL with ECNL out scoring GA 13-2. GA even had a team in flight 5 for the 09s who lost in semis.

In general, WAGS doesn't have a huge history of NJ teams playing their. Seems like in the past most of the teams from NJ were from some PSA location and the teams at u15 and up were from townships. D went 1 year and it was nice fields and good competition from places she usually didn't play against at the time.

                2019
12 team 5 clubs no GA or ECNL mostly u13 and under
                half from PSA

                2018
19 teams 9 clubs 1 GA no ECNL mostly u14 and under
                half from PSA

                2017
26 teams 10 clubs 1 GA no ECNL mostly u14 and under
                half from PSA

This is such a stupid post. GA didn't exist in 17,18, and 19. If you are referring to GDA that was a totally different league and can't be compared with GA.

Stupid how? GA didn't exist years ago, so what, those clubs still did/didn't send any teams was the point. GDA vs GA isn't really different since almost all of the clubs that were in the GDA formed the GA. Only real difference is the HS playing rule. Now if you mean compare as in the only thing missing are some of the top clubs since they moved to ECNL while GA back filled with lesser clubs then sure, you are right about that.

The post says 1 GA team in 2017 and 1 GA team in 18, GA didn't exist then. You cant use GDA and GA interchangeably. 2 totallly different animals. Yes I know alot of the same clubs formed GA and my D did both DA and GA.

No, not the same. In DA the level was much higher practices were more intense I remember sitting with my daughter and watching the u15s train and it was fast paced and very clinical. I can't say that about GDA teams now.

I suggest you watch a PDA ECNL practice - it’s only 2x/week and more than 1/2 the time is spent standing in a line. Then a scrimmage which is good but few touches and that’s it. The kids don’t even come out sweating or tired at all.

If your former GDA team isn't doing the same things now in GA then something is seriously wrong. The clubs and teams I know of are doing at least as much as before and I know 1 former GDA club that is doing a little more.
