    Matchfit Shore Recruiting

I just found out that my best player on my son's team is "training" with Matchfit Shore. I have shown tremendous loyalty to the person who has invited this player to train. In fact the club he is currently with has developed the player. My question is what do I do here? Do I confront the person, do I have him fired from my club, or do I wait until spring when the parents say the player is leaving? Asking for advice here.

You shake their hand and wish them luck.

I think you confront him and ask him ***. The answer is the guy is most likely leaving and taking as many players with him as possible. The one thing RT is good at is recruiting. He works all levels - players, parents, and coaches. If this trusted individual is actively sending players to train there then he is getting recruited or worked by RT. I'm sure this person will just say it's extra training and it's no big deal, but we've all heard the same song and dance before.

What age group are we talking about?

It's pretty simple. RT will promise you anything to get you to like and trust him. People love hearing about how good they are or how amazing their kid is, even people that should know better. It's the exact same way you can walk out of a dealership with a red sports car when you intended to buy an Accord.

I doubt RT was involved. He only cares about his 3 core girls teams (09/10/11).

Yes I agree especially 09 and 11 teams. He broke up my daughter 11 team here in Toms River which was a really good team. He will sell you any which way he can. It's a shame everyone falls for his talks.

That team was doomed anyhow if the plan was to continue on with the coach they had before.

There is nothing you can do. MFS does not follow any rules or ethics. Zero professionalism. They will offer you free “training” and promise just about anything to get you to stay. All the coaches are the same, no loyalty, no standards, no professionalism and they buy into the con that is MFS.

Yes and no. He focuses his "coaching" energy on those teams, but he's in charge of building the shore branch. He's not as effective at older age groups or on the boys side because he's never had an ounce of success with either of those demographics. That being said, there's always a new set of parents or coaches that haven't been exposed to his tactics.

I'm sorry that happened to your daughter. You have to understand, from a parent side many don't have any soccer experience and/didn't have an older child play at a high level. When a club coach you think knows what they've talking about, who has a license, and has winning teams tells you how good your child is, how they'll be on a winning team, what his plans are to win with your kid, the amazing travel experiences they'll get to go on, and so on, it's very easy for those parents to get stars in their eyes.

Zero experience playing the game as well.

The RT/MFS ribbing is well deserved, but this could easily happen with other clubs/coaches. Being invited for training is like the entrance drug for being recruited/getting an offer from another club. While I think you should talk to the person, I'm not sure what that will accomplish.

On the RT front, unfortunately this specific person and branch are looking at recruiting younger and younger kids because it's a new set of parents that don't know him.

RT himself topped out at JV high school soccer.
