They play harder in team scrimmages than most non conference games. Those scrimmages are better than those matches played in the “small pond” with players not as talented.

Its ok for you as a parent to make excuses, and believe strongly in those excuses, as to why your daughter doesn't play. If your excuse is because thats what she wants then thats cool. To each their own and every players journey is different. All of us parents here on TS have one thing in common, our kids are athletes. If what your kid wants is to be in a really good program but not play again thats cool but most competitive athletes I know dont want to sit the bench.

Didn’t say it was their wish not to play. It was to be part of a team and see if she could get out of her comfort zone and make it.

Totally different. I admire her because it’s not something I would do

It’s evident you can’t grasp the concept. Thats ok, too. There’s many places to play to be the soopahstahhh on a crappy team. Have at it. Some shoot higher. Nobody wants to sit but instead want to play on a good team, but accept it as a possibility and will work to overcome it. Life is about seeking and overcoming challenges vs ha ging on mommy’s teet all your life.

Why do you think players move to big competitive clubs vs just staying on low level teams throughout the world?

You have to remember 99.9% of these kids will end their soccer carrier after college. They are spending their best years of the life on a college team. They're ultracompetitive and they want to play and compete, not practice. Why would you limit their playing time.
Is it playing 30 games in BIG10 better than 80 games in Big East, Patriot League or Ivy League thru their 4 years of college? I think is not.

oh I grasp it but my daughter doesn't have the same issue as yours and I am not over and over defending the desire to sit on the bench at a big name school. Actually, it kind of makes them a cheer leader not a player

Again, not a desire but rather a drive to be the best. I personally hope it changes but every time she steps on the pitch she is playing with and against many great players. She plays to compete, not to bully lesser players.

Some just are built to seek out discomfort and some run from it. Takes all kinds

Where does it end then? Just go play D3 and be awesome and get all the ego boosts you need to fulfill your social media feeds. If you really want to, can likely do it from the comforts of your own home.

If a D1 player is only on the bench they are not a player they are a practice cone

OK, we completely diverted from the original post. The whole conversation was about top players, recruited by RU, and why they have better options in PA. No one talked about D2 or D3 prospects.

Not disagreeing. So the next question for her is what will
she do about it? Will she run to a crap team and be a great player, as she was for virtually all her career, or will she fight through it and make an impact. Like it or not, none is unexpected and the scholarship structure is based on becoming a contributor over time. Of course reality hits and she wants to play, but understanding the why and why not will help her when life gets tougher later on.

                          Fight or flight

Ok. Take out D3 and instead go with Delaware State. She could certainly be great on that team. How awful would that experience be?

What exactly is a crap team? Villanova is pretty crappy at soccer, are they on your list? Maryland is doing awful this year, are they a crap team? There are 350 D1 womens soccer teams so where do you draw the line at crappy

Most likely your kid is not going to play professionally, even she makes it to pros, be prepared to support her finically through her professional carrier. I gave you five schools that are better option overall for top players from PA than RU. Focus on word "overall" and these 5 schools please.
