Why do you have tunnel vision on NJ clubs only? A lot of very good clubs out there in neighboring states and those not too far away. Throw out a wider net.

And I agree with that poster, get alum CLoyd involved.

Not many others can boast about having a FIFA player of the year associated with their staff. She was at a football game recently and the crowd loved it.

You TS people do not understand recruitment. Rutgers is a State school located in NJ off the NJTP. It is not a go to destination for top players from around the country. It has been said many times yet you don’t get it. Rutgers cannot compete against those players also being recruited by top 20 programs like UNC, UVA (off year), Duke (off year), FSU, Clemson, ND, Georgetown, Princeton, etc. Carli Lloyd is not joining the RU staff. Ask your daughters if given the choice what are their top three if they were being recruited.

I don’t know how they couldn’t figure it out. Blatantly obvious they had wrong players on field or right players wrong positions.

Dave P of Barstool sports gave Rutgers a great rating. He said more athletes should go there. He and his crew had a great time; nice campus; a lot to do, etc. This was only a few weeks ago.

RU should get this out there. Dave P goes to all campuses and let's the crappy ones know they are crappy. Said the pizza could be better.

Lloyd was at Game Day. The day Dave P was there. It was awesome. She is a huge supporter of the program and school. You have no idea if she will help out like HaO with unc. Even as a part-time asst, would be great to help recruiting.

You don't understand. There are only a few slots at the schools you mentioned per yr. Once filled, you need another school. RU could be that school.

I went to a game there recently with my family. What a great atmosphere. Definitely putting it on my kid's list.
And doesn't Duke have an nj kid or two. They may not make ncaa's or acc tourney, but they would make both conf tourney and ncaa with RU. See how it works when you put a positive spin on it?

Sorry but RU can't compete vs the academic reputations of UVA, Duke etc. A player that can play at top programs at true top universities is almost always going to chose that over RU.

Lol she isn't going to get involved other than as a supporter. As for the rest, of course. Top players from NJ have other good options and many students (regardless of they play sports or not) want to go further away for school. A NJ state school that doesn't have the same academic cache is going to be a tough sell for players from other parts if the country. Maybe if they were perennial champs or contenders like UCONN it'd be different. They do well but not good enough.

I meant UCONN in basketball not soccer lol

Just trying to be objective. Playing at RU in the Big Ten is a great positive spin for top athletes. No doubt. My point is that recruitment of top players from around the country is difficult given all the factors involved. That’s why RU has to rely (in my opinion too heavily) on local talent in the NJ/NY/ area including PDA. As you said the best players when given the opportunity will choose top ACC colleges over RU. That’s just a fact. Carli Lloyd can wave the Pom-poms for RU but players will decide for themselves where they want to spend the next four years as a student-athlete. BTW, there are many USWNT players from the ACC who help recruit for those colleges as well.

Appreciate you objectivity. Some of those acc players recruiting played for PDA too. So there's that.

RU is going up. I am hearing more kids at least looking into them. And no, not NJ kids, especially with expanded league on board next season.

UConn is not the main b-ball go to anymore either. Look for GA to retire soon. And many moons ago, UConn men's b-ball had clout.

just proving that things change very quickly, especially in sports.

RU has great business, science & grad school programs. Not sure you are aware but due to proximity to wall street, business programs are outstanding. They have a niche business school set up and networking from bloomberg (who has classes at RU; Forbes family from NJ, etc ). Many WS firms represented. And same with communications and proximity to all programs that have roots in NJ, including media and movies.

Not throwing shade on Uva or Duke but RU is really not a bad option academically for multiple programs.

I remember the annual Forbes family Hot Air Baloon multi day event in NJ. Networked right there.

Yep, RU is included in this overall....NJ top in nation for median household income and most educated labor force....

..."New Jersey's economy is centered on pharmaceuticals, financial services, telecommunications, food processing and tourism. It also benefits as bedroom communities for both Philadelphia and New York. Though business and living costs are among the nation’s highest, New Jersey compensates by having one of the most educated labor forces. New Jersey scores poorly for its regulatory climate and fiscal health. Only Illinois has a worse rating on its general obligation debt than New Jersey's A3. New Jersey has the highest median
household income in the country at $85,853."

                              Forbes

go to RU and be part of this.

Schools are brands. Those other schools have higher name recognition and respect in the general public. Perception vs reality.
