Let's reel it back in.
This thread is related to the rules governing a player who is (or might consider) playing DA and high school at the same time in NH.
Any reasonable person would say that if you are playing on a SUSC DA team, you are probably playing at the highest "club" level in the local NH Seacoast area. But that's not the point of the thread. The point being discussed is whether the potential sacrifice of not being able to also play Fall soccer for your high school is worth it.
The consensus seemed to be that if you were in the top 1/3 of your DA team roster, it probably is worth it. However, if you fall outside that group, then the decision becomes more difficult. If your end goal is to play in college, you will still be able to be scouted and achieve that dream by playing club soccer on a Spring team - or even, in some cases, just playing high school ball...

The fact that Seacoast allows players to do this--in violation of the GDA rules--shows that they are desperate for players to fill these teams. If mid-roster kids are breaking the rules (top kids can do anything--just wait to be rostered until after HS season--the club will wait) and Seacoast is letting it happen, then you know that they don't have a big enough talent pool. US Soccer needed replacements for FC Stars and PDA in GDA when they left after the first year... That's the only reason Seacoast was offered GDA. The patch looks nice, though.

If it works for your D what difference does it make to anyone else? It’s the only game in town.
Two thoughts for you.
1. Do what is right for you, your daughter and your family. DO NOT worry about anyone else. How do you keep up your neighbors? IF they have something you don't, do you go out and get it?
2. Has it crossed your mind that the player you speak about and Seacoast were given an exception? And if so, do you think either one of them would tell you and everyone?
How do you function day-to-day knowing that others maybe getting something that you are not?

How many we talking? You make it sound like there’s over a dozen, maybe up to twenty across the teams?
Folks, one of the chief defenders here is the tool whose kid hasn't even started HS yet, but he sure does have an opinion. Give it a couple years until his kid is a junior in HS, watching her DA teammates get accolades on the HS field they should not be on AND taking playing time away from his precious D at DA, and you'll hear him change his tune.
Until then, he counters every valid point with "you're obsessed" or "do what's right for your family and stop worrying about everyone else" (deflect, much?). It's impossible to have an educated debate with someone who will defend his little D's soccer club to the bitter end. But hey, they did tell him she is wicked good and wicked special, playing this high level soccer. Cashed his check and gave him a fancy new patch. So what do you expect? SUSC! SUSC!

3/4 of the teams have players now in HS. Only the 06 team doesn't have anyone in HS. So, not sure who you are talking about....
Why is it a "debate"? What are you trying to get out of it? Why is it so hard to grasp that most just don't care as much as you do? And...why do you care at all? You are the most vocal opponent of it, and anyone someone says "it works for us" your panties get all wadded up. A poster asked a question how the rule works, and was provided feedback. Why are you trying to turn it into a "debate"? Just the type that needs to blow smoke to anyone and everyone within earshot?
How many players are getting special accommodations and/or breaking the rule? I've heard of the girl from Londonderry and the girl from Trinity. How many are there?
Assuming you likely mean me as you've attacked me before...I'll continue to say "we'll do what works best for us and stay out of others' business".

My kid plays ECNL at Stars... I'm not worried about what kids at Seacoast are or are not getting. My response was simply an explanation of why Seacoast has little choice but to let kids break the rules (different from waivers and/or waiting to roster until the spring--those things are allowed). You wouldn't see this allowed at NEFC--they have a deep enough talent pool to grant waivers or roster kids after HS season if needed.

It was done at NEFC as well.
But, it's a valid point...Seacoast is trying to get it started and if they look the other way occasionally or take liberty with some of the rules, I get it. I'm not the one doing it and don't know anyone directly who is, but I don't doubt it's happened (people seem pretty firm on it so I'll believe them).
GDA is filled with families who think their kids are playing in the "top" league. It is not, and it certainly isn't in the NE. If Seacoast and others were all that they wouldn't need to let players break the rules in order to field teams.

For NH kids who can't logistically get into ECNL, which while has it's own warts and problems is likely top to bottom better...what league would YOU consider to be the "top" then?
