By watering it down, I will assume you are referring to NWC not participating in this State Cup. NWC could have entered the US Club State Cup in NH (as could any other team) and they choose not to. NEP membership is not required to participate in this State Cup. They choose to play....no one apparently. Had they participated, this years tournament would have looked much like the last few years. This NEP state cup is not watering down the competition in this instance. That being said, from a historical perspective I find it funny that you are complaining that "only" 2 teams got through. Because, you know, so many teams have won region 1 in the the last 25 years. -
The GPS u14 boys won regionals 2 years ago, lost in semi's last year on a penalty kick in extra time and won again this year. Not to shabby! Only team to ever win regionals from NH.Originally posted by Unregistered View PostComment

Its hard to say there was this HUGE distribution of talent as the USYS SC is a Barren desert that NWC tried to keep alive thanks to DW dual role. I think there was only 1 other club that had more than 1 team entered (Timberwolves). There were barely any games played at the USYS SC. NH teams had great repesentation at the USCS Regional tourney, with a few advancing to the final game.Comment

Ok so the now BU14 Gps NH team (aka the Classics) didn't win regionals 2 years ago? I seem to remember NHSA lauding that achievement, I believe it was the first team in State history to do so. So again, IF there was minimal success before in the old format, how is it any different, seems to be on par for they way NH as a state has performed in the past. My guess is the "watering down" camp is associated with USYS and/or NHSA. I'm guessing "watered down" refers to the fact that last year's regional championships included all of the region 1 teams and this year's championships only included NH, MASS, ME and RI.Comment

You eliminate more than half the teams from REgionals and only get 2 through. That is a good accomplishment but still not relevant. NH, ME, VT, and RI are not relevant unfortunately and MA and CT are only a little bit.
Do you even realize that you only compete in New England Regionals now and by all accounts if you get one of them in the other Regional draw everyone is thrilled.Comment
