You are calling a 16 year old player a baby. That is picking on him. I am not his mom, but I am somebody's mother you are a a very small person, your mother should be ashamed.

If your kid plays on the team, then why are you so angry?

Attacking a coach and players on the team out of spite is petty

You are an unwelcomed distraction that is fueled by your own sense of entitlement. And to top it off, you hijacked this thread.
Please, listen to everyone who is replying and go away.
      The program is very competitive.

In the past, my kid has been disappointed about making jv as opposed to varsity... You know what we did? We dealt with the disappointment at home and he worked hard on the team he was placed on. It stinks when there is disappointment and it's even worse when there is perceived unjust placements (whether or not it is deserved or not). In the end though where you may have been able to convince people that there was injustice previously at a gathering of people... Now, you just outed yourself as a big old baby who is now labeled as one of those crazy psycho parents who everyone stays away from and complains about. Good job Dad / Mom. And since the apple usually doesn't fall too far from the tree... Perhaps you should settle down and make sure your kid doesn't follow your example. I can only hope you came on as an anonymous jerk but hopefully you aren't filling your kid's head with this junk.

it shouldn't be hard for the coaching staff to figure out who this #1 Dad is. This year 10th graders are allowed on team. Only one of them was good enough to make varsity, are you saying your his mother?

Are you saying the coach's son shouldn't have made any team as a freshman and he made varsity? There is a coaching staff picking the teams isn't there?

The team votes for captain don't they? How can the coach control this?

I am going to go out on a limb and say this is a very bitter mother who has nothing better to do than complain and bitch about her kids getting SHORT changed. Just a guess of course.

-Really...So a coach has no say in who makes captain or who makes the team!

I'd like to clarify a few things:
                1. There are four coaches on the LHS Boys soccer coaching staff. They all discuss every player trying out for the program and they all decide who goes where.
                2. The number of players we carried last year has nothing to do with the number of players we carry this year (on any of the teams).
                3. When we pick teams, we strongly consider playing time. (Example: a player makes varsity but only plays a few minutes per game vs playing almost every minute on JV)
Remember, we have to consider the future of the program as well as the current year. It doesn't benefit the player or the program to not get any game minutes as an underclassman.)
                4. The players who made varsity earned their spot. There are no favorites or hidden agendas. We make the best decisions we can during tryouts and we still evaluate players during the season and will move players up or down if it is beneficial. This was the most competitive tryouts that I have seen in my 4 years at LHS. As a result, we have 3 very strong teams.
                5. Varsity captains are voted for by the team. The coaches only tally the votes.
                6. We have made it clear that if anyone has questions or concerns, that they can contact us directly. We find that is the most productive way.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.

                Thank you,
                Kevin

Who cares! This board is never so lively as when the folks from Londonderry show up. Thanks for all the cheap entertainment!

I doubt this kid made the team. Parents like this think if they complain enough they can make other people see their personal injustice. They complain about the coaches, and the ref during the game (back to original meaning in post) and even the coaches family! Nobody likes this parent, and doesn't want to stand beside them, and then they feel like they are not in the in crowd because of it. Then they blame cliques, and politics for who made the team. The truth is the better kids usually make the right team. Coaches are not infallible, but every coach wants to win, and so it stands to reason they would pick the best players for their team. It is envy pure and simple, it makes parents ugly, it make their kids feel like life is so unfair.

However, the quality of officiating at the HS level is not something NHIAA should be applauding. Sometimes knowledgeable people can have a voice about crappy officiating. Bad officiating is statewide. Recently I have seen a few new faces that seem to be less than 65 years old and not grossly out of shape. It is nice to see an official that can keep up with the game and also have some real knowledge of the game.

Parents and players should respect the refs. Parents set a bad example for their players as they complain about every call. If there is a dangerous play, or the ref has lost complete control that's another thing altogeter. Parents who insist on showing everybody how smart they are by heckling the ref, ruin the game for the rest of us who just want to watch the game.
If bad officiating bothers you that much, take a course and take the field. I am not a ref; just a club and high school parent who has had it with bad behavior. High school is not the World Cup. Relax and enjoy watching your child play.
I won't even get into parents coaching their kids from the sidelines

How about the head coach advising that underclassmen would not be on varsity even before the tryouts...last year his son was on the team along with his Londonderry town travel team (that he coaches). Sounds like the EXACT opposite of what you are saying and defending Kevin. Thanks for trying to be positive but we know who runs the program and his motives. Don't be so naive Kevin...we aren't!!!
