Just curious why the NH Soccer League does not seem to be a competitive one.

The NHSL is more suited for town or weaker club teams. It is a good league for third or fourth-tier teams, but there is not enough competition for first or even second-tier teams. That is why the stronger teams play in NEP and Maple. Overall, New Hampshire does not have enough really strong teams to comprise a NH-only league that is is higher caliber.Originally posted by Unregistered View PostComment

Most teams in NHSL do not have the coaching requirement for them to even apply to NEP. Clubs are volunteer work, mostly if not all parent coaches with state licenses, non have any nationally accredited coaching certificates.
Other than the big clubs, GPS, WC, Lightning, Seacoast which have Director of Coaching with credentials these little clubs could not make it in to NEP, unless one of the big clubs like GPS mergers with them. That could get them around the coaching issue and into NEP.
Which is what is happening in NH with GPS and Seacoast. Thier mergers are taking the majority of the competition out of NH and moving it to NEP. Leaving less and less clubs and teams playing in NH.
This is quite the accomplishment for GPS and Seacoast since they were part of the architects for NEP. Merge with these smaller clubs, give them the promise of premier training and competition, put them into NEP Championship level (which has very weak teams in them) and rake in all the money, not only from the clubs but the league as well.
NH is really turning into an extention of the big clubs and the small town clubs leftout are playing in NHSL with little real competition. There really is no grand plan here from US Soccer to promote not only premier level leagues but recreational or mid level travel leagues that each state can sustain and develop players.
NHSL will be insignificant when it comes to player development and every club will be clammering to sign up with a big club to help retain their players to stay relavent.
This is a true crisis that will eventually breakdown soccer in NH to a point where it will not exist on a competitive level.Comment

My guess, WC joins NEP and JF goes to MAPLE. Smaller clubs will stay with NHSL as they don't have the coaching credentials or the tournament/state cup wins to be recognized by NEP. There will be no alternative, NHSL is destined to be insignificant.Originally posted by Unregistered View PostComment
