Those boys will have a wake up call when the politics are 100 times worse at Seacoast. Are these players as you describe as "half his team" thinking pre-Academy? Good luck with that if so.... Better look into why Academy kids drop like flies out of Seacoast.

The FACT is that management at GPS felt that, after 3 years with the team, it was a good time to bring a new coach in and allow the kids to have a fresh coaching perspective. The coach was asked to take a very strong HS group next spring. This did not go over well with some parents and with the coach.

That's it in a nut shell, without going in deeper.

That is a philosophical issue with MANY Competitive clubs, do you limit terms a coach has with a group or do they stay on for _____ amount of time.

It usually ends bad when the change occurs to a team that has had measurable success. This is something that is debated constantly, the biggest issue is IF you are part of a club that has time limits the CLUB need to socialize the idea and PARENTS need accept it.

GPS-NH Classics would be the correct name, but who cares, don't you get the point.

They are aware that seacoast would never have left that one coach to coach the same team for that long. NEVER. One year, one coach and you move on... Hilarious that that's a gripe that they would use as a reason to move to seacoast! What a miserable trip to Regionals that's going to be.

It's only an issue with clubs that are weak. Almost all big time clubs have limits. There are no real benefits to having one coach forever unless you are a professional. It is only debated by the coach who can't think of what is best for the players and has to fight it when they should be preparing the kids to move on.

The only point I get is that GPS/NHPSA/Classics (whatever they want to be called today) seems to be in shambles - at least the current boys U14, so that makes those tryouts irrelevant to me and most others, too. If my son gets cut from his Seacoast team, NWC (or even Seacoast Storm) seems like a better choice than the ever-changing name club.

                        Not true

To clarify Seacoast does have coaches that stay with teams for multiple years but eventually there is change. Pete D. coached u12 then 13 PreAcadmey now 14 academy and after this year he is done with that group. As far as politics ALL of these clubs are the same. The boys that are looking for a change are looking for spots on full Academy, U14 and some u16.

The majority of boys will return to GPSNH. You will see at least 13 return under a new coach when all the dust has settled.

I am new to this thread. Can anyone tell me how the numbers were at GPSNH u15 boys tryouts last night? I am trying to figure out where to send my son tomorrow night for 2nd tryout date. TIA

Why not send him to both? I believe there is enough time between them to get to 6:30 tryout in Bedford. GPS had a decent turnout. If I had to guess maybe they had 50 or so? Maybe a little less. But to be honest I wasn't paying a lot of attention . I do know there were some new faces there, but I couldn't give you an estimate on that either.

Thanks. I hadn't even thought of doing both.
