And other than one team all their teams don’t play in great leagues. Question is if they are so upset where do they go now which is the usual move…3step owns half the clubs and they have already burned the NEFC bridge. have blasted 3step so much to their families it doesn’t seam like a good situation and that 2007 Nal team has lost several players to better leagues this fall.

Seacoasts emails instantly began to feel like they were written by corporate lawyers instead of the coaches that we had relationships with. Club became less personal and more transactional. Aztec’s ability to advocate for their region is capped by the people who are looking at you solely as a revenue stream. Yes- all clubs are money driven but people’s money and corporate money give different presentations. Aztec families are now just numbers. Lots of good players and I hope they find good places to land.

To the other posters, yes it’s much harder after U15, and yes ‘truly good’ is a key distinction from ‘my mom thinks I am good’. However these kids will seek this out and compete on their own merits. The coaches at their destination clubs will determine how good they are or are not. They don’t need us to opine on their quality from our living rooms. Putting another kid down or trying to deter them, does not change or improve our own kids quality.
Again, a sincere good luck to all the kids who seek out new clubs, and to those who stay put as well.

Lets sum this all up and answer the original question. At 8 you could start with a town travel team. All the local teams are fine. If you are looking for a club then you could head north as seacoast in Bedford is right up the road. If your kid plays well eventually they will be moved to epping where the better teams are headquartered. Aztec North is just a few miles south in Tyngsboro. They also do a good job with the younger kids but it is TBD what will happen in a few years if your child is really good. I do not know them really well but I would assume that at some point they would merge their top talent with the north shore and build a really strong team. I’m not sure why that hadn’t happened yet so who knows.

I did a little reading on 3-step. It appears in addition to the five local clubs, they now own the reffing assoc and the NECSL (which includes the RAL and NAL) and have recently also acquired the EDP league which I think includes the National League, both based out of the CT area. I don't have a crystal ball but it would make business sense that they put all this together at some point soon and create a solid pathway in the northeast. Change can take time. So for the 8 year old, I'd worry about who is going to give you the best development as an individual player; the commute and cost. As someone else said, if your kid ends up being that serious down the road… You can always change.
