Does this team have any girls interested in playing in college and if so do they have any commitments? Point being good they got in the league but if it’s not helping players accomplish goals they might still leave for a league or club that will.

Is it also proving the point that my kids team didn’t get into NAL just the 2007….what good does this do the 2009s..all knowing one. Or the 2010 what’s the plan since you know all.

And other than one team all their teams don’t play in great leagues. Question is if they are so upset where do they go now which is the usual move…3step owns half the clubs and they have already burned the NEFC bridge. have blasted 3step so much to their families it doesn’t seam like a good situation and that 2007 Nal team has lost several players to better leagues this fall.
3 step is a corporate mentality at its worst. We were with Seacoast when they were bought. Seacoasts emails instantly began to feel like they were written by corporate lawyers instead of the coaches that we had relationships with. Club became less personal and more transactional. Aztec’s ability to advocate for their region is capped by the people who are looking at you solely as a revenue stream. Yes- all clubs are money driven but people’s money and corporate money give different presentations. Aztec families are now just numbers. Lots of good players and I hope they find good places to land.

I am an Aztec parent and our coach and none of the other aged coaches has publicly said a negative word about 3step that I know of. I’ve asked other parents that I know are not happy with 3step and they all say that the coaches are trying to put on a brave face and stay positive which is what we got from our coach. Most of the parents are aware of the situation and we all know that things won’t be the same unless something dramatic happens in the spring. They will not be able to hold on to the very top players which stinks but Aztec North is still a great product for 95% of the players in this area.

If they are truly good why wouldn’t they have a place to land?

You understand that after U15 or so it’s a lot harder, right? You can still be a good player although not necessarily the best player such that you’ll take another girls spot. I mean that’s pretty obvious right? People love getting so touchy anytime someone calls a kid “good”.

Who’s touchy? I mean besides yourself? I just said if a kid is good they will find a team. What’s wrong with that?

OP here. I said I hope they find a good spot. I was sincere, I hope they end up in a good situation for themselves. No snark intended.

To the other posters, yes it’s much harder after U15, and yes ‘truly good’ is a key distinction from ‘my mom thinks I am good’. However these kids will seek this out and compete on their own merits. The coaches at their destination clubs will determine how good they are or are not. They don’t need us to opine on their quality from our living rooms. Putting another kid down or trying to deter them, does not change or improve our own kids quality.

Again, a sincere good luck to all the kids who seek out new clubs, and to those who stay put as well.

People move on from clubs all the time for one reason or another they will find a spot and don’t have to wait start looking over the winter might as well join new team for spring.

Lets sum this all up and answer the original question. At 8 you could start with a town travel team. All the local teams are fine. If you are looking for a club then you could head north as seacoast in Bedford is right up the road. If your kid plays well eventually they will be moved to epping where the better teams are headquartered. Aztec North is just a few miles south in Tyngsboro. They also do a good job with the younger kids but it is TBD what will happen in a few years if your child is really good. I do not know them really well but I would assume that at some point they would merge their top talent with the north shore and build a really strong team. I’m not sure why that hadn’t happened yet so who knows.

Agree with most of this except I’d say don’t worry about too far into the future since you can always move to a club that has better options for older kids. For younger ages near the state line I’d vote for Aztec or NEFC north.

I did a little reading on 3-step. It appears in addition to the five local clubs, they now own the reffing assoc and the NECSL (which includes the RAL and NAL) and have recently also acquired the EDP league which I think includes the National League, both based out of the CT area. I don't have a crystal ball but it would make business sense that they put all this together at some point soon and create a solid pathway in the northeast. Change can take time. So for the 8 year old, I'd worry about who is going to give you the best development as an individual player; the commute and cost. As someone else said, if your kid ends up being that serious down the road… You can always change.
