Massachusetts, and especially Metro-Boston, warehouses POC far away from the middle class population. Why would soccer be able to overcome what nothing else has for over a century?

I think another post could be why is the NBA all black? How do we get more white players into the NBA? Seems to most that the NBA has way too many black players and needs more white players.

Like another poster said can we do this for basketball as well? Not enough white kids play basketball and that's not fair.

They've ranked as high as #4 in the FIFA rankings as recently as 2006. Is #4 pathetic? Is 2006 forever ago?

- income and race are highly intertwined in the US. Soccer is an expensive sport to play in the US (pricey club soccer + all the travel) so only more well off families can afford it and they're more likely to be white. Although this is changing some, basketball and football is more affordable.
- High school basketball and football can still get kids noticed by colleges. In soccer you pretty much have to play club to get in front of a college coach.
- soccer isn't a popular sport with African American kids (Hispanic kids another story; for the it's about affordability). They, their friends and families follow basketball and football teams, not soccer teams. They admire top football and basketball players. They play pickup games with their friends.

Every club my children have played at above the town team (which is cheap) has had multiple kids on scholarships. Good players who make MLS academies are free to play by default. Non MLS teams all have kids there playing for extremely low cost or free as well. Travel is where things get tough for non MLS kids but make no mistake the kids who can play, are all playing.
On the girls side, money is a bit more of a factor when it comes to ECNL or GA teams.
