Timing is everything.

HRC already had been investigated (again and again and again). That Gowdy guy from South Carolina had a hard on for her and Benghazi. And the email thing is absurd. Does anyone really care about emails, especially compared to Russia pimping out our election and working hand in glove with Team Trump?

Here's the thing. The played the timing perfectly. If they had gotten rid of HRC sooner than Sanders could have emerged and would have easily beaten Trump. Trump and his henchmen in congress needed HRC. One of the most disgusting things I've seen over the entire past two years out of everything was Chaffetz tricking HRC into a selfie with him on inauguration day (taking advantage of her good will to be in a pic with him that day), and the him posting that on Instagram with a message that he was so glad and relieved that she wasn't President (and that was after vowing that had she won he would have investigated her to death for at least a full 3 years into her Presidency.

Well, Comey could have ended the investigation and kept his mouth shut, and HRC would have won. Or he could have pursued prosecution earlier and Bernie would have won.
